I’ve also been taught, if you’re in a group and the shooter is coming through the door, one person should try to get control of the weapon while the others tackle the shooter and pile on top until the shooter is on the ground and immobilized.

Agreed. This is standard protocol in an active shooter situation. I’ve taken several emergency response courses, and this is exactly what they teach.
