I am a huge TKaM fan, but I do not think it is appropriate for children AT ALL. Just because the protagonist and narrator is a little girl doesn't mean little girls should read it. I think it's too sophisticated for my ninth graders, who usually hate it (but adults love it). Like The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn,

That's cute as hell. It reminds me of Slimware - this one is my favorite design. The biggest space is for veggies, the medium for grains, then protein. I really do like that huge broccoli, though. I also like the "to be healthy" attitude - it's not a "diet" plate.

When I think about the Hooters "uniform," I think about exactly what is prohibited at the middle school I work at - exposed bra straps, shorts shorter than the length of your arms at your sides. I can only imagine how this conversation went:

I would totally wear that Tide dress. I love the smell of laundry detergent. I even like the way it feels on my skin - gritty yet slippery. I should really do more laundry.

Now playing

Did you see JGL's cover of Bad Romance? Oooh, baby.

I like it because I'm a fan of design, not because I have a uterus. But is that a four-pack, not a six-pack? Are they saying I can't HANDLE six beers while watching a TLC marathon? Psh.

I giggled audibly when I read the balls of white bread part. My brother used to do this (I don't think he was high, he was eight) and the bread would turn grey from the filth on his hands.

Paul Feig spends a great part of his memoirs recanting his terrible history with girls and then women. If those girls knew that he'd grow up to be this, they would be swooning. What a feminist dreamboat.

Paul Feig is a very, very funny guy with awesome memoirs. Knowing that he is behind this as well as the powerhouse Kristen Wiig makes me giddy with anticipation.

Just because I had to find somewhere to post it, doesn't the embossing on this Clarins palette look...well, like vulvas? Especially in the neutral colors?

It's SUPER cute, especially in that color, but this image is borderline NSFW! :)

She has such a gorgeous smile, too. So genuine.

A very happy 80th birthday to the great Willie Mays as well. <3

Oh my gosh, the last scene in The Color Purple kills me every time.

My mom has never been the type for aphorisms, but she has taught me to love so unabashedly and without fear. She is the most honestly sweet, caring, and loving person I've ever met (and probably ever will meet). She is also the BEST listener, even when I'm ranting about politics or literature. I really think there is

You mean a Giants game.

Hell yeah. That last one was the most downright touching thing I've ever read about a penis.

Unless you're vegetarian, I wouldn't worry about the whole "bestiality" thing. It's the same stuff they use for sausages, which are magical and delicious.

I've always found Kevin Kline to be adorable. That last scene is one of his funniest.

Thanks for bringing this up; I can't believe Gaga, who is so passionate about human rights, could be so ignorant about this issue. Saying the "r" word (and I emphasize this point to my middle-schoolers) sounds like you have no idea what the word actually means. I think Michael Scott says it best:
