Each developmental milestone makes it easier. When he can roll over on his own, you’ll feel better. When he can sit up on his own, you’ll feel better. When he can pull himself up to standing, you’ll feel better.

Look, this whole thing, everything the NFL does about head injuries is just for show. The “new safety rules” every year are arbitrarily, inconsistently and subjectively enforced.

You know, I’m starting to think the NFL isn’t taking this concussion thing seriously.

Most of u know that I have been a special needs teacher/administrator for nearly 18 years, the only job I have ever known. Excuse me now, there is a huge lump in my throat and I’m sobbing as I write this. Of the hundreds of children with special needs that I have worked with, I can tell you that every single one of

It always amazes me that people ignore the sacrifices of women in war. Of course women fought. They had to fight! The consequences of being defeated or conquered were (and still are today) a hell of a lot worse for them than for the men...

Very, very well put. I think it’s safe to say that there are almost no professions that have been the exclusive domain of men, regardless of what may have found its way into the history books.

Good. Let this serve as a reminder that women have always, always fought. Vikings had shield maidens and Shaka Zulu had his all-female body guard. Women dressed as men to join the fight. They take up arms and become rebels and guerillas. In Russia they become bombers and tankers and snipers. In feudal Japan they

Guy is charged with seven felonies and no one’s burning his jersey and posting it online. Wonder why that is?

JK it’s because no one ever owned a Bruce Miller jersey.

Yea, pretty much Schefter had someone commit a felony for him so just he could have a little more juicy of a scoop. It sucks HIPAA doesn’t extend outside of medical professionals, but I hope Adam doesn’t walk away scratch-free here, this was a super fucking shitty move.

That’s just not true. The law has long recognized invasions of privacy as a tort, and medical records and subject to additional statutory protections. Figures of public interest understandably have a somewhat diminished expectation of privacy, but the law has never said that their right to privacy is wholly erased.

My reactionary uncle just forwarded a chain e-mail called “Freedom of Speech.. Just Watch What You Say” and I said “that’s totally the name of an Ice-T album” and he said “that nice cop from SVU?”

While it remains to be seen with JPP, the legal system disagrees with you (and I) on the 2nd part.

The players should stand during the anthem and face the flag. But I don’t care about the cameramen, radio announcers, fat fans, fans in the bathroom, fans ordering food, fans at home, lazy fans, anybody who’s not on camera, foreign-born players (as long as they’re white), mascots, security guards in the tunnel....

Given the explicit thoughtful statements of Doug Baldwin in the Seattle Times (linked, and partially excerpted by Barry Petchesky), your comment seems unnecessarily dismissive.

Rachel Maddow has been pretty upfront about the fact that she’s usually only dressed up from the waist up. You usually can’t see it because of her desk, but occasionally she’ll do something standing up and it’ll show.

This is the perfect response for how much it’s gonna burn her attention-seeking ass up.

Police shooting windshields is just their latest pushback against the calls for transparency.

No one’s missed your point. What you seem to be missing is that the reason women don a burkini should be irrelevant in the eyes of the law. You can be both troubled by the idea that many Muslim women are conditioned into feeling as if their bodies are something that should be hidden from the world, AND be troubled by
