Anything that gets roads fixed is a good step.

YES. This drives me insane.
Uber is VC-subsidized public transit.
Uber’s going to get destroyed by self-driving cars anyway, so their days are numbered. That’s why they were willing to try and steal the technology from Google - they knew what is inevitable.
Ten percent is nothing? You may need to go back to math class. 10% increase every year is a DOUBLING in 7 years. So if they’re making, say, 60k now they’d be making 120k 7 years from now.
Once the tech is sufficiently foolproof, people will absolutely want it. In addition to all the people sitting in bumper-to-bumper 1-hour commutes who could reclaim that time for leisure activities, some of the biggest beneficiaries of autonomy will be people who can’t drive otherwise - disabled, elderly (think of all…
I know I’m late to the party here, but hell yeah! Anamanaguchi is amazing.
If only Texas and California had some clean way to generate cheap electricity during the hottest parts of the day...
Good?
Less traffic = higher speeds = higher fatality rate
The boost button seems ridiculous to me. Why not just have that power always available if the pedal is floored?
Used car dealers are such a pain in the ass that a lot of people are willing to lose a lot of money simply for the convenience of not having to deal with one.
A trend existing doesn’t mean it’s good in any way.
They worked incredibly well on the airplane itself, compliance was high and people quickly got yelled at by flight attendants when they were not complying.
Could very well have been at the airport. Airports are absolutely not enforcing the mask mandates (on the planes they were!) and on my recent trip there were tons of assholes with their mask on their chin, under their nose, or just completely not wearing one in the first place.
I’d much rather have this option available to people who are drunk/high than have them getting in their car and going to get food themselves.
WTF? If they need to charge more, they should. If I’m doing the entirety of the work other than making the food (which I’m already paying for), why on earth would a tip be warranted?
First off, tipping culture is bullshit. Get rid of tipping like most civilized countries and pay people a living wage to begin with.
Seriously. The surge pricing isn’t just “HEY LOTS OF PEOPLE NEED TRANSPORTATION LET’S GOUGE THEM”, it’s “we want to incentivize drivers to address this surge in demand by paying them more”.
