That is really a shame. I was sad enough when she retired but now to find out that she passed away — it's just tragic. Her rhythm and phrasing, particularly as Dexter and Chuckie, were beautiful. I'm in my 30's and my family still quotes Dexter.

I don't know but we've had to put up with Ricky Gervais and Russell Brand and now we're getting James Corden. If anything, we're owed.

There's a book called Our Story that's basically essays by the dancers who played Jets and Sharks reminiscing about filming the movie. It's pretty interesting if you're looking for a different perspective of the film.

I love the original soundtrack to "On the Town" and am forever bitter than it barely appears in the film version. (I also love the "I feel like I'm not out of bed yet" prologue and am always sad when I hear "New York, New York" without it.)

I go back and forth on switching "Krupke" and "Cool." Whichever song gets the post-Rumble placement gets an extra jolt. Sometimes I like the idea of "Krupke" being cathartic rather than just them goofing off even though "Cool" seems like a more natural fit.

Charlie Brooker's 2014 Wipe is on tonight. I feel I should mention it since I was complaining on the Black Mirror review that I hadn't seen Charlie himself lately.

This is fun but surely I can't be the only who remembers Patrick Stewart in Jeffrey almost 20 years ago. That comedic side has been there for a while.

Mel B really was terrible but I put a lot of the responsibility on whomever it was that chose her in the first place when they could have chosen Susan Calman or someone else who was actually a comedian. Still, anytime they have David Mitchell paired with Richard Ayoade makes me happy.

I have magical internet powers. And iPlayer is a wonderful thing.

Well, thank goodness Britain has figured out that the best way to spend the holidays it watching TV so I had some good stuff to watch this week - the Doctor Who Christmas special, Black Mirror, Carrie Fisher on QI, Robert Webb on Pointless… On the radio, I had the finale of Cabin Pressure and the entirety of Good Omens

Of course! But the last episode was summer 2013 and it has been cancelled.

I've been enjoying Black Mirror and A Touch of Cloth but it seems like forever since I've seen Charlie himself. I was listening to So Wrong Its Right and The Unbelievable Truth while doing Christmas chores this past week and I kind of miss him. (Yes, I already know his review of the year will be on next week.)

The Big Fat Quiz of the Year is on tonight. It continues its tradition of making me very happy (David Mitchell! Richard Ayoade! Sarah Millican!) while also annoying me (Mickey Flanagan!)

Television? Who cares about television? Today is the first half of the series finale of Cabin Pressure. I started listening about 5 years ago because it was written by and starred one of the writers for Mitchell and Webb. As a bonus I got the woman from Waiting for God and the original Javert from Les Mis. I

Weekly Zaltzman update for Bugle fans - he was on a Frank Skinner radio show called The Rest is History yesterday. It was him and Victoria Coren so that combination alone should make it worth a listen: http://www.bbc.co.uk/progra…

I don't mind saying that I choked up a bit. I enjoyed seeing all of those people together in celebration and appreciation of someone whom I've become pretty fond of myself. It seems like a random assortment but it just really illustrated his ability to bring that wide range of people together. And the end where

I had to check the dates but Bravely Default had its North American release in 2014 so that's probably it.

Well, that's a train wreck combination of collaborators. Jesus Christ Superstar and Joseph… have some witty moments but that's mainly because of Tim Rice's sensibilities. I suppose they could surprise us but I'm not holding my breath.

Is "meh" credited to The Simpsons? I always thought of it as something more generic.

That's okay. I've never missed an episode. So between us, we balance out the universe.
