Fair enough. So instead of being kicked off the team, he could have been fired. Same result, i.e., dissociation from the program.

You asked what punching a woman in the face has to do with sexual assault. I answered your question. I didn’t realize I had to frame my answer based on the headline to the article. And while the article centers on the coaches’ reactions/statements to the sexual abuse scandal, the article also discusses the Walton…
And that’s nonsense about a school doing better athletically means it does better academically.
One could argue that punching a woman in the face at a bar and raping a woman are both examples of violence against women. Perhaps if the coaches let players skate in both scenarios it evidences a culture, permitted, if not perpetuated by the coaches, of allowing violence against women. And perhaps they should accept…
I get your point, but some/many of the “facts” you point to are just plain wrong. In particular the idea that “they don’t generate any revenue for the schools and pretty much no one gives a flying fuck about them”, at least among the big programs (i.e., most of the Power 5). Even by their own accounting (which is…
No, it’s still bullshit. You claimed that the act of resignation is what would ruin their lives. My point was and continues to be that their dereliction of duty and failure of oversight while on the board is what would (and in a just world, should) ruin their lives Their resignation is a mostly meaningless gesture —…
None of these people made their living sitting on this board. The majority of the board members (excluding the employee-officers) didn’t get paid anything, and of those who did get paid, they averaged ~$7000. And from what I could tell doing a quick look at the board, none of them were ‘professional’ board members —…
The same people who would hire someone who sat on a board that let a pedophile get away with it. In other words, their lives were “ruined” when they allowed Nassar to abuse those gymnasts, not when they resigned from the board.
True, assuming they care about anyone but themselves. Based on recent events, I’m not sure that is a safe assumption.
Resigning from the board of USAG is going to “ruin their lives”?! First, I respectfully call bullshit. Based on their most recent IRS 990, of the 20 non-officer board members (i.e., everyone but the CEO, CFO and President), 13 didn’t receive any compensation, and the 7 who did received an average of $7000. Losing that…
Some people just don’t know to quit when they’ve lost. They’re the bank robbers surrounded at the crime scene, thinking they can shoot their way to freedom. Instead they’ll get gunned down by the cops (i.e., USOC), and take some hostages (i.e., USAG) down with them. At this point, USAG may be so tainted that they need…
Do you have Ads Personalization turned on? And if so, do you have a check in the box for “Also use Google Account activity and information to personalize ads...”? I have personalization on, but not check for “Also use Google Account activity”, and I don’t have a Reminders option either (either on desktop or phone).…
But we will pursue decertification if USA Gymnastics does not fully embrace the necessary changes in their governance structure along with other mandated changes under review right now.
Three cop cars, and none of them think about pulling in front of the car pulled over. Not sure if that’s SOP or not (maybe they’re concerned that if there’s a fire fight, they don’t want cops to be shooting in each other’s direction). But certainly seems like one of them could have pulled in front of the BMW, thereby…
That’s certainly an option, though I think you would lose the textural benefit of the sear when they’re in the SV bath.
Which is precisely why Claire needs to do scallops! So at least someone around here can talk out of the proper orifice....
That was kinda my point — because you want a good sear on the scallops, you can’t SV the scallops to temp, because they’ll be overcooked post-sear. You almost have to parcook them in SV so that the sear doesn’t take them over. As for the torch, I’m not a fan of that approach to searing, but to each one’s own.
The left should really make a concerted effort to brand them the GOP the Pro-Birth party rather than pro-life. Because once you’re born, they don’t give a shit about you.
I’m here for scallops. Would love to learn the right technique there. I’d think nailing doneness in the bath wouldn’t be hard, but then they’d be over after searing. So need to find the right temp that would allow them to be seared without being overcooked.
