Agreed! “Barbarism Begins at Home” needed that groove for Marr’s jangley guitar lines to glide over.
The Smiths had one of the most underrated rhythm sections ever. All of the attention went to Marr (not without reason, he was one of the best guitarists to come out of the 80's), but without Rouke and Joyce, I don’t know whether those songs would have been nearly as good.
Grave of the Fireflies was originally released in Japan as a double feature with Totoro. Absolutely insane match-up
Thankfully I grew up around a lot of Italians so I knew that food was supposed enjoyable.
I said she was raised on Depression era cooking. Because my grandmother, who learned how to cook when she was a kid during the Depression, raised my mother on Depression era cooking, so my mother never ate garlic and still says that bell peppers are too spicy.
“I can’t pay you, but you’ll get lots of exposure!”
That’s a great choice. My pick would have been Michael Shannon I can imagine that dialogue being spoken with his voice
Hillcoat did a great job adapting The Road, but he even had to delete a scene that he filmed because he knew he’d totally lose the audience if he left it in the movie. Anyone who read the book knows what scene that is - it’s really fucked up. Blood Meridian is way more harsh than The Road was, so I don’t know how you…
Ack, you’re right. Wrote too fast.
I think Axe is a good drummer, but he never had the groove that Lopez had. I think he got better the longer he was in the band though. I think that was the best lineup of the band was when Lopez was behind the kit. I haven’t heard the new drummer yet, but I’m sure he’s awesome.
Opeth is best metal band still touring now. I’ve seen them live twice now and they keep getting better as musicians.
Criterion is great and I’m probably going to have to sign up for it again once Netflix stops sending out DVDs. Not too many streaming services are going to have something like “The Turning Horse” on it.
maybe you should hold on to them until October instead.
Well, this sucks. I’ve had Netflix since ‘07 or around there because I hated Blockbuster so much.
“Am I Evil” as well. It was always a staple of their live set
Not much love in general for Metallica’s arguably best or second best album, AJFA. My rank would be MoP, AJFA, RDL, KeA the black album. The remaining albums are mostly unforgettable garbage.
Blackened ranked so low is ridiculous.
Exactly. My health insurance is through IATSE and if I don’t log enough hours on union productions or have enough hours banked, I don’t have health insurance. If I have a cataclysmic incident that requires health insurance during an uninsured period, I can literally lose everything due to medical bills. Sometimes you…
I think DM losing Alan Wilder was a bigger loss than Vince Clarke. They made a couple of good albums after Wilder, but I never thought they were as sonically as interesting without him.
