Certainly better than some other blog you can’t even comment on.
Certainly better than some other blog you can’t even comment on.
Hey I dunno about you folks but this Defector sports blog sounds pretty cool.
Jim Spanfeller is a herb, pass it on.
Yeah, that’s a big worry for me, too. The full list is up at oppositelock.com, which hopefully will end up being a final destination for whatever’s decided as the big one. Some folks might stay at some of the existing related outposts, but so many people are tired of having the community tied to an external website…
Then change it if that happens. That excuse doesn’t hold up to me, else they’d cowardly nuke the comment sections and anywhere else where users can add their own content. (Yo, herbs—please don’t, or a lot more people will leave. What Get/Out Media bought isn’t just a blog—it’s a community, and the dimwits who…
It’s a work in progress with the goal eventually being something that looks more like Oppo over here, except not controlled by an herb.
Seriously, way to completely fail to live up to your end of the deal, G/O. People were still archiving their posts with the understanding that they’d have until the end of the month.
Oppo’s always been a different, more accepting community. People who usually felt awkward or excluded from car groups found a place at Oppo. Hell, just go read the big roast of Oppo as to how special a niche it was, especially Mercedes’ post.
Groupthink and all the sub blogs have been killed because god forbid people interact with each other. Clashtalk was done in long ago by the insipid assholes at splinter, and now all the other sites are gone as well. What are the owners or writers afraid of?
They didn’t even leave it up until the end of November like they said they would! They gave us false hope by keeping it up past midnight and then pulled the plug. I fully expected to not be able to post anymore, but I thought we would at least be able to see old posts for a while. Those dirt scoundrels.
We’ve asked, comments are safe as far as I know.
Seriously though, can never thank the Jalops enough for going to bat for us.
So you Jalops realize just how solid of a dude you have at the helm, on the day this news became known, Rory took notice of a comment I’d made asking the editors to help us save OPPO and replied asking me to email him. A few hours later he called me and we had a long conversation about how much we both cared about the…
Long live OPPO, indeed.
Stands to reason that you sing the praises of the company that is going to lend you a van, pay the expenses and give you fifty grand on top of all that.
In other words, they don’t really want someone with the gravity to tell a great American story about national parks and the sublime majesty of the great outdoors. They want some good looking influencer with hundreds of thousands of followers to shoot heavily filtered cliché photographs to post to their Instagram, and…
Can you send me a link to where you’re seeing that?
The majority of Jalopnik staffers, even all the way back, have had little or no prior professional experience in automotive writing.
That...should not be on there.
