Coltrane has many, many other credits to his name, but more importantly, was by all accounts a wonderful guy.

Yeah! Not exactly digging-yourself-out-of-rubble-because-your-city-was-just-bombed hard, or ran-out-of-money-days-before-the-next-check-comes-and-you’re-hungry hard but fuckin’ hard all the same.

I’m glad that the article was edited to remove the multiple false categorizations of Lystrosaurus and two other synapsids as reptiles. Thank you to the editing staff at Gizmodo.

You might have to keep on dreaming, since I don’t think that the US federal government (or its bootlickers, which includes, unsurprisingly, some Gizmodo commenters) will come to realize that sanctions are not a good policy idea until the US is no longer in a position to impose sanctions.

This part about credit is definitely a factor worth mentioning and looking into, since in the best case scenario the people who do the work should get the credit.

I guess the big question here is one of longevity and perpetuity. When the Vanity Fair article says that James Earl Jones

there’s something ethically dicey about this

Literally no one needs to know anything about Scott Adams unless he suddenly decides to be less of an asshole.

Kinja user Is That So is a transphobic bullshitter; best to just dismiss their comments.

Matt Novak generally reports issues very well. Generally.

This looks and sounds really neat, thanks for the write-up!

Thank you; I know that the audience here doesn’t expect all the smallest details but I just saw some spots where I thought the article could be improved with just a little bit of commenting.

I would definitely accept “gut fermenter” as a probably more accurate term than ruminant. I’m not sure what work has been done on the topic since Sues and Reisz 1998 “Origins and early evolution of herbivory in tetrapods” but if you’re an amniote with a wider-than-expected ribcage, you’re generally assumed to be a gut

Mostly good article about a really neat publication describing some really good fossils of individuals of Lystrosaurus. But I’m a stickler for accuracy so I’m going to raise some disagreements. All of them arise out of the belief that the Gizmodo audience is smart enough to deserve accurate science writing. :-)

I don’t
