Dangit I entirely forgot that Ben Carson also accepted and dispersed a weird wrong thing that some Christian churches believed, hundreds of years ago, about the pyramids.

Ben Carson’s dad was a Seventh-day Adventist minister and he himself identifies as a Seventh-day Adventist and therefore it is entirely possible that this highly capable and skilled surgeon actually thinks the universe is a few thousand years old and that Genesis is literally true.
His fact-denying faith has led him…
Definitely voting for Trump are 76 percent of Republicans, 3 percent of Democrats and 21 percent of independent voters.
Definitely not voting for Trump are 10 percent of Republicans, 94 percent of Democrats and 54 percent of independent voters.
This is the correct take. Chick-fil-A’s leadership was opposed to marriage equality before 2012, but they decided in the summer of 2012 (during the “slow news” months of summer during a Presidential election year) to keep showing up in interviews and keep saying that they opposed marriage equality. It was an attempt…
Some of the comments here are rather disturbing.
Thanks for telling those of us who didn’t need to know about any of this about this. We’re morbidly curious.
Yep

If I had to choose my favourite thing about Dan Lipinski, it would be that his dad had the same job for 12 years and then he all but gave the job to his son.
Your comment was, sadly, 7 minutes after someone made that claim. :-/
Now now now we’re not supposed to point out how the author says weird things on, say, Twitter.
The anti-choice crowd has weaponized abortion access so much that Democrats are scared of voting to uphold the precepts of Roe v. Wade. It’s not good and unless the Democrats (nation-wide) find their spine ASAP it has the potential to get much worse very quickly.
New Mexico is another state with a Democratic trifecta and we similarly have seen really common-sense legislation1 get defeated by a Republican legislative minority. It’s almost as if really good at blocking legislation they don’t like.
Hillary Clinton announced her doomed campaign for the presidency
Uh oh they got grifted the bad way

They’re going to invest that $22M into helping asylum seekers in the US and they were just scamming MAGA fans? Awesome.
I think the best thing I can say about any destructive human system (a particular church, a particular government, a particular economic idea) is that it is not alone in being destructive. Organisms fight amongst themselves and have been doing so for a very long time, but humans look to be unique in that we will come…
First, thanks.
Second, yeah, it has a lot to do with placing actual responsibility on bigger shoulders in order to stifle discontent. At the end of the day, the only way to stay in power1 is to keep people without power from rising up and overthrowing you. Evangelical fundamentalists do this by insisting that their…
Because they were European Christians, the first way that proto-geologists looked at geological layers in the Earth was to assume that a global flood happened. This explanation worked if no one actually looked too hard, but by the late 18th century the cracks were starting to show and by the 1820s or maybe 1830s no…
Oh yeah if I’m being academic about it then YEC has intellectual origins in the late 19th century, foundational origins from some pretty “almost-universally-dismissed” stuff written in the first half of the 20th century, and then some “unfortunately-less-dismissed” stuff written in the second half of the 20th. The…
