I found that mine squeaked like crazy when I relo'd it back there unless I oiled it pretty much every day.
It’s much worse with a spare in it. That adds significant mass when it crashes into the back of your legs.

That’s crazy. I routinely drive ~800 miles between Texas and Colorado. That's 12-13 hours with vast stretches of no superchargers. Stopping for 30-60 minutes in basically every town along the way would change that drive from doable to miserable.
Except Toyota owns something close to 20% of Subaru and develops vehicles jointly with them.
