It was the price of a Porsche back then and should be the price of one now too, because that’s what it’s going for : Near-Luxury Comfort, 2+2seats, decent-reliability and medium to high end sportcar performance. Note that I said sportcar, not supercar. Think of it as a slower and Japanese(and German) RS5, 911, F-Type.
Not only was it instantly synonymous with “trashy” and “nouveau riche” but it was adopted right away by wealthy sex workers and they made it their symbol. Barbie had one too, or course. They tried to appeal to manly men, and quite possibly ended up with one of the most “girly” vehicle ever made.

If someone has a very special rare exotic car and they call it a she, while I think it’s dumb, it doesn’t bother me much. When it’s a common economy car? Stop it already.
Add to that fact that truck manufacturers got with the times with fuel efficient smaller engines, and they are basically even less at risk than they were in 07.
People say this but it’s a different landscape now, and big vehicles are sipping fuel compared to the dinosaurs with old ass engines that ruled the 2000s.
If it’s not then it’ll be something like Santa Barbara or Puebla or Sonora.
Well if they want it to be affordable I can't see that happening, but we can dream!
