I think the equipment gave up under the weight of that weak ass transition.

Yes, but the point is that Egypt was diverse. It wasn’t monolithically white or anything, really.

I remember when I was in high school, my history teacher (Ancient Civ.) told us that ancient Egypt was part of the Mediterranean world. She went on to describe how Egypt had more in common with Rome and Greece than sub-Saharan Africa. I tuned out at that point. The attempt to erase the African from any historical

The UK also has had scandals in boarding schools and a fairly recent scandal in which police failed to investigate rapes against underage girls by a South Asian pedophile ring.

i bet you a sweater, an honorary degree and pudding pop it could.

I actually wrote a letter to Jim’ll Fix It (it was a tv show where kids wrote in with requests for things that they’d never usually do). I wanted to ride the black horse in the Lloyds Bank adverts. I am glad that nine year old me never got to meet him. He came across as massively creepy in a Louis Theroux documentary

He’s before my time (and I’m not British) but my mom tells me she always found him creepy, even when he was at peak-belovedness.

From what I can tell from my time there, people thought he was a bit weird and a bit of a loony, but there being actual meat to the allegations was a shock; they thought it was just easy jokes and low hanging fruit for poking a bit of fun at an eccentric. The big shock, according to my UK friends, was the Rolf Harris

Of course, nothing like this would ever happen in the US

Louis Theroux made a documentary following Savile that was disturbing enough at the time (when Savile was still alive) let alone after details of his abuse of children came out after his death.

Every time I see a story about this monster and how he lived his entire life without ever seeing a jail cell my fucking blood boils. I wish they could dig his ass up and put him on trial.

So is anyone at the BBC going to be held accountable? Sometimes I feel like we go too far trying to blame ANYONE for a crime, but this is some really serious, sick stuff. We’re talking about children.

And then the BBC tried to bury the report today by sacking a celebrity colleague of Saville. Have they learned? It doesn’t look like it.

The scope of the offences, and the entertainers involved, was staggering and horrifying. Operation Yewtree seemed at one stage to be sweeping up every children’s entertainer who was big in those days.

Anyone I know living in Great Britain has been saying these rumors existed for decades. Good that he’s finally been given the butcher’s bill and it’s a large one.

I didn’t realize this was new news? I mean maybe these findings are more definitive, but this has been around for a while now.

That could never happen here in America.

It turned a blind eye, where it should have shone a light. And it did not protect those who put their trust in it.”
