In 2003, U-Haul messed up my reservation for a 20ft truck. They knew how to take the reservation, but not hold the reservation. Instead of the 20ft truck I reserved, I got a free “upgrade” to a 26 ft truck. From the 80s. With a manual. It was the only truck over 10ft available within 30 miles so I took it. The manual

Base Yaris... circa... 2012? 13? Pre-Mazda infusion, at least. It did make the car better to drive, mind you (keep the revs up to manage DC traffic!), but the throw was similar to my Wrangler, it was just as vague, and if possible, even more rubbery.

But I will be kicking ass on the 4 degree slopes.

Yeah, but then you’ve got a Nissan, and it came from a Nissan dealer.

I am happy to pay subsription fees for incremental benefits, especially when they can be purchased a la carte. Things like GM supercruise, GM onstar, spotify premium, XM radio, maintenance plans, etc. all provide incremental benefit (whether they are worth it or not is different). This is just to use the car that you

Its not about buyers giving staying power, its about MFG’s earning it. While this seems like a decent car, I can’t see anything that is overly competitive about this car and frankly, I (and I assume others as well) find the battery subscription extremely offputting. What additional benefits do I unlock for the cost of

Like Tesla, believe it when I see it.

There are tons of contradicting examples of this phenomenon.

Which is fine if that’s what he’s doing, but he doesn’t drive enough for “gas prices” to be a relevant consideration, especially considering he’s willing to buy a car in this market, rather than waiting a bit.

It’s a 12-year old car. For him it’s time for a replacement, as it would be for many/most people with a car of that vintage. He won’t “save” money, but its logical to want something that might have lower operating costs.

I think it’s more like “Well it’s time to replace my aging car, since I am going to be in the market anyway I would prefer an EV.”

Manufacturer: Here is a nice appointed wagon.

Being bugfuck crazy is not motive enough?

The places I’m talking about, those are one and the same

The only real way to get your meal at the correct temperature is to eat inside a restaurant. Even if you pick it up yourself, its cooling down some

because independent restaurants could use our help since everything went to shit

As a Dasher: if you don’t tip, the base rate hardly covers my (or anybody else’s) vehicle costs and it definitely isn’t profitable. I’ll hit decline every time.

Not to mention (at least in my area), DoorDash and UberEats delivery people are the most entitled assholes on the planet. They’ll walk into a restaurant, go right to the front of the line and DEMAND their order be given to them immediately so they can get it to a customer.
