You are correct on the relative performance, but as a DD, everything must be looked at in totality. I’d rather the interior of an accord grand touring or GTI/Golf R even if it meant worse performance. For an all out track machine, that doesn’t matter, but very few people are buying 2022's only to strip the interior

My 2.5i is a fuckin’ slug, but everything else I love.

I’ll say this for them. They weren’t as broke as the ones with boats.

I’d love to know how they do a weighted average with PHEV’s. If the EV part is 120mpge for 20-40mi and the Gas part is 20mpg but you do a weighted average based on a ~40mi day and assuming overnight charging, you could have a pretty high fuel economy! Things like the pacifica, wrangler, and grand cherokee would be

What car was that? I have a golf alltrack(you guys do too) and I don’t get anywhere near 40mpg in that. The best I get is about 35.

they still talk about a normal rental car being “Pinto or equivalent”

Why work incredibly long weeks and make $55k-60k/yr - in a sedentary, high-risk environment?

In my case, it was entirely possible to go to a supercharger, charge the tesla, then return it and not pay for the fuel surcharge. I just chose not to because it was a personal rental and supercharging isn’t free so I really only paid $10 or so to not charge. They don’t expect 100% full.

I’ve rented from them before, so at one point I did, but generally I use one of the cheaper airport rentals or even turo.

The ones I have rented just charge a flat fee for bringing it back less than full. I think it was $25 or so. Far easier than me going to a supercharger, waiting, and paying for the electricity there.

food inflation prices have actually made me lower the amount we eat out.

Does the new Golf R have those haptic buttons like the new GTI?

I wonder if it’s a real exhaust exit since splitting into 3 legs seems pointless

Very nitpicky, but the one thing I wish was different is the triple exhaust. Hot hatches are supposed to be fun and practical. I would put a hitch receiver on this, or a golf R, not to tow, but to carry bikes. The exhaust will make this sit lower than if it were outboard exhaust like the golf r. While I can easily

I would love to know how much boost this thing is running to achieve these numbers. I’m sure it has been rigorously tested, but these are insane numbers from a 3-cylinder

It all depends on driver size. A below average driver can definitely make it work, above average should look at the golf

Can it fit a rear facing child seat without having the front passenger eat their own knees?

I could see this being slotted between the $39k(est.) CTR and the $43 golf R. I’m not sure how many people will be willing to pay a $10k markup over get a Golf R

Good point! I guess we could include the type R in the mix, but the corolla can afford to be a little more expensive due to awd. I see this really needing to be <$45 and equally appointed as the golf R to succeed

If the new corolla is competitive with the Golf R and STI, both OTD price and performance, of course it will sell about as well as those do. It will still be relatively niche, like the golf R and STI. Its not going to see Rav4-volume
