Because that’s a benefit of not having to rebuy those games, just because you don’t have the disc tray.

This is the weirdest news cycle “tragedy”, not a single person died yet everyone’s rushing add to the $700 million they already raised to fix a building. Where was this response when Grenfell Tower went up in flames?

If you have a big collection of xbox 360 games you want to play, just buy the version with the disk drive. I think this is more for people new to the Xbox environment.

And why would you? Pay the extra $50 for a drive if you are someone with a 360 disc collection. I have a huge 360 and x1 digital collection but unfortunately have also ended up with discs from sales over the years. I’m hoping the disc trade in program for digital actually gets implemented.

The punishment definitely does not fit the crime.

I mean as I do on PS4, you can also do on Xbox. You have multiple accounts, you share them. I play from my own account, using the games that are owned by other accounts on the system. The all digital future isn’t that hard. The PS4 was the one that convinced me. I went all digital, I bought games cheaper than I ever…

Steam’s in a relatively unique ecosystem, though, considering that most PC discs have been “put in tray to activate online installer” for years, and PC program rentals have more or less never been a thing, unlike console games.

Microsoft’s Console Division: We initially announced the XBox One as a physical-media-free console, and consumers rightly told us to turn that idea sideways—stick it somewhere anatomically unlikely and almost certainly medically inadvisable—and twist.

I find it pretty funny that years later, they are basically releasing what that initial reveal of the Xbox one was in the first place (that all digital, always online what that everyone hated and they reversed).

So, you spend the exact same amount of money for lesser hardware that removes your ability to buy used, rent, lend, borrow, sell games and movies for. . . what benefit?
