Forgive me if I have no sympathy for the “blue collar nobodies.” They ripped people off in the DC Metro area for decades. Uber/Lyft have greatly improved transportation around these parts.

Make up your mind: kids today are either scary antifa or too prissy to get involved. Not both.

It’s one of the greater propaganda victories of the capitalist class that it recasts advances won through active ideological (and often physical) struggle as simply the product of ownership’s inherent rising-tide-lifts-all-boats benevolence. It’s a lie, of course, but a really effective one.

What blows my mind is the whole “don’t want some union taking my wage as dues”

...and yet still vote republican!?!

Honestly, given the number of pro-Trump union members I’ve come across, I welcome this. These union members and other workers who sympathize with management need to be reminded of why unions are necessary. If it takes a couple of years of misery, so be it.

We’ll be seeing more “conscientious conservatives” in the media and all over the fucking place as the election nears. Their basic line will be “Yes, Trump is bad... but what’s the alternative? Democrats? Never!”

I agree with much of what you say. The problem is that if you let them set their own rate it will do the opposite and create a race to the bottom. Just look at the companies themself and you will see this. A driver can’t get away with charging what he needs to cover his expenses if there are 20 other drivers in the

“My job is to cover you, not fawn over you or rip you. Just report on you,” he also said.”

When I am hiring independent contractors, one thing stands out: Independent contractors can set their own price, and they aren’t required to bid on every job we open.

Or conservative media is fracturing and going to split into niche conspiracy theory groups.

The eternal cynic in me thinks that this is a ploy by Trump to boost Fox News’ credibility by allowing them to posture in “apparent defiance of bias”.

I think I’m most surprised by the stupidity. Before the Trump era I knew that the meritocracy was obviously a myth and that many people who ruled the world were of average intelligence. The Trump era has perhaps revealed that many people who run everything from the largest corporations to large government

It’s kind of neat how the Fox anchors work like a relay team with their white supremacy.

I truly believe the Russians meddled in the election to try and fracture the EU and maybe even NATO. I have congratulate the Russians on a plan well executed thus far.

I don’t consider those still doing it dumb. They’re just less fortunate than I am. I drove Lyft so I could put my kid in a slightly better preschool than the ok one she was already in. Other people should be so lucky to have my problems, and I feel compassion for them.

Plenty of morons seem content to keep at it, not going to stop them from being dumb if it gets me cheap rides.

AB5 is a good thing. Defaulting to an employee status unless it meets more specific meaningful criteria will cut down on ambiguity, reduce labor commission complaints and reduce labor classification lawsuits.

Boris (and his rich elite upper class sponsors) intend to buy as much of the flailing UKs assets for as little as possible to make maximum bank. All the while using the split from the EU to better hide their wealth, because new money laundering laws won’t affect them in the UK.

Yeah, the same playbook the Conservatives use in the US.  Starve the beast.  Jack up spending, cut taxes, then when the recession hits claim the only way out is to drastically cut spending and privatize everything.  Further exacerbating income equality.
