Remember that black guy who was killed while walking around a Wal-Mart(?) with an airsoft rifle while talking on the phone? Weird huh?

Jesse Jackson lost most of his credibility as a civil rights leader long ago. He’s now just another old-school Chicago politician who are looking to protect themselves.  His son was convicted of misuse of campaign funds.  In short, he wants people to go light on those convicted of corruption.

Much of this article feels like a Perfect Solution Fallacy.

I don’t like the surveillance state implications either. However, if the end result is that a person gets his guns taken away temporarily, I don’t find that as nearly as objectionable than being arrested in advance.

Blago is also a Chicago Democrat who can be used to continue to sh*t on the legacy of Obama and other Democrats because he’s ‘one of them.

Exactly. 600 arrests? You meaning the hiring managers, executives, etc. we[re] bamboozled 600+ times with perfectly forged documentation?

St Louis had approx. 20 shootings over the same weekend with a population that’s about 10x smaller.

Usually not.  In a typical M&A deal, the sellers have a non-compete that can last years.

At least they spent some money on a defender.   I just assumed they’d overpay for yet another forward.

I guess if they’re retired or “self-employed,” nothing.  If they work for a company, I might think about boycotting them. If they are senior within a company, I will try to boycott them.

A few observations:

You need to differentiate those who attacked because of their beliefs, rather than crazies that just happened to be political.

Example: Dylan Roof explicitly killed over his right wing beliefs- he published it. Hodgkinson attacked over his left wing beliefs.

It’s not fiscally liberal, it’s fiscally populist.  You’d think you’d be liberal, but nah.  Koch is doing the same thing by acknowledging that income inequality is a problem, but saying the solutions are lower taxes and fewer regulations.

Ivanka and Breitbart are doing their best with “Chicago.” Did you know St Louis, Birmingham, Memphis, Kansas City, etc. all have higher gun violence rates than Chicago?  I wonder why they chose Chicago?

Racism isn’t a problem, but Democrats are the real racists, and then it is a real problem.

The problem with claims white supremacy, racism, etc. are in the fact that the people who are a 6 on the racism scale get to define it. (1 being MLK and 10 being David Duke, Dylan Roof, etc.)

Slightly off topic- but I’m trying to compare the approx 11k per year in health care costs (which is about average) to what it would cost in additional taxes under a medicare for all (or similar) plan and I’m unable to find any reasonable consensus.

I think this is dehumanizing to anyone, but at best this is tone-deaf and at worst, this is straight up racist.

Anytime someone says, “I’m the least racist person,” “I don’t see color,” “I have black friends,” etc. it triggers the opposite reaction from me.  They’re racist, but don’t want to admit it.  They not KKK racist, more like Tea Party Uncle racist.

I struggle with bigotry and racism and I’m working to be less so. I don’t

She perfectly represented our ambivalent, contradictory, and troubled history on race. Sadly, given our backslide, her early novels are as prescient now as her later novels.
