Nothing for Eighth Grade?! I’m astonished. This is a boring year for nominations.

I didn’t really go there because I didn’t bring up her scam charity that was supposed to fund LGBTQ but just funneled money to her family, or her ugly treatment of her ‘ungrateful’ personal assistant/slave, because that would really be dragging her poseur add.
I don’t expect her to apologize for Kelly’s behavior. I expect her to apologize for her own: in particular, participating in the enrichment and promotion of multiple sex offenders simply to be “provocative.”
If I remember correctly, when that song was initially released she basically said that she thought R Kelly was being lied on. So now, five six years later she has this great revelation during award season?
“R. Kelly and I have, sometimes, very untrue things written about us,” Gaga reportedly said in 2013. “In a way, this was a bond between us. We were able to say, ‘The public, they can have our bodies, but they cannot have our mind or our heart.’ It was a very natural collaboration.” From the USA Today story on this.…
I’m happy that she released this so that the survivors may feel more supported and publicly validated.
Please dont harsh on Nicole Kidman dreaming about the life she could have had. Remember she'll never have the pleasure of having all of her children together under one roof
Green Book’s Golden-Globe winning co-screenwriter Nick Vallelonga is in the public hot seat as well; after an Islamophobic tweet of his from November 2015 resurfaced, he deleted his Twitter account.
There is no doubt in my mind Vallelonga’s father didn’t have a special relationship with Don Shirley. I think his father came home and regaled the family with stories about that uppity nigger he drove around the south. White people love when they are the heroes of stories about black people.
I don’t think we should discount her statement that she was trying to deal with her own trauma. While it doesn’t excuse her actions, it does shed some light as to her state of mind. Everyone deals with trauma differently. Some of those who have been sexually assaulted go directly to the police and do exactly what they…
At what point do we stop using our own traumas as an excuse to ignore the traumas of others? To know what we already knew about this man when she worked with him, to choose *that* song, and then, years later, to *continue* to be silent about it for a long time when you’re in a better place and have more perspective...…
I’m inclined to be sympathetic because of her state of mental health at the time, but “these allegations I am hearing” as though this is the first time it’s come out?
I believe her father is a government official so pretty sure they’re both wealthy and well connected.
The problem with how he is acting is that there is this false narrative getting pushed that he addressed this and apologized years and years ago and he’s getting defensive that people are calling him out now. But you cannot find these apologies. I’ve asked people on Twitter who make that same argument to provide a…
Don Lemon called his ass out, he has not been all over the place apologizing, he apologized on Ellen for the first time. He’s not sorry and he’s not done being a homophobe, he just doesn’t want to jeopardize his career
I listened to the bit Don Lemon played last night (i.e. not the whole podcast, so maybe there was more or better context) and what resonated most was the angry tone in his voice. He doesn’t think he should have to apologize, so it’s hard to take it as an apology. He used the same line about the times being more…
Hi! Lifelong resident of NoVa/DC here and I think it’s worth noting that you’d have to live pretty far out (2 hrs, one way) to get reasonable housing costs. Maybe at some point in the past it was more reasonable, but if you want to commute in from 30 -60 min away, you will still be paying DC level prices, but with the…
Congress of ALL places should raise MRAs
She did effectively match the 2nd highest bidder; $50k is more than 2x the amount, and clearly nobody was interested in spending more. And as much as Katy Perry is a petty little toolbox, the only thing that stopped the other bidder from donating was the bidder themselves; I doubt the charity would’ve refused.
Pitchfork live-streamed their concert last night, with any luck they will be fully uploading it once they get permissions on the final product.
