To clarify for any Scotch novices, Glenmorangie is very good and quite affordable, but tastewise the standard bottling is almost the polar opposite of Laphroaig. It's a much better entry point for someone who is used to bourbon or Canadian whisky like Crown Royal.

You're certainly right about most trademark enforcement being about making clear that a given product or message is or is not associated with the brand. So you can give any opinion on Budweiser you want, but you'll want to refrain from wearing a hat with their logo if you do so on TV.
