Sure but it doesn't matter how long you wait. He literally owns the skeleton key to your account and can kick you out at any time for any reason. Might as well not bother participating.
I will. Thank you.
“Oh, I understand the difference.”
I’ve said nothing disparaging. I’ve simply pointed out that Beeper has published a FAQ stating clearly that messages could be collected in plaintext if they wanted to because, they, Beeper, state themselves, that messages are decrypted at the server. That is just server-side encryption which is not the same nor as…
It’s safer to send messages via Signal and WhatsApp too. Beeper is a (incomplete) solution in search of a problem.
It’s not my opinion. Beeper says it themselves in their own FAQ. The app hasn't been security audited either so it's a non-starter.
“because iPhone users in the U.S. by and large refuse to use anything besides iMessage.”
The gap has been bridged for a decade: use a cross-platform app like Signal or WhatsApp. I’m on Android and was able to get all my iPhone-using contacts to message me on Signal.
Nothing I said is incorrect. They say it themselves on *their own FAQ* 🤦♂️.
Messaging via the Signal app objectively presents the fewest risks.
Exactly. This obsession with a messaging app that supports everything is a waste of time because it’ll never happen satisfactorily. There will always be concessions, and security is almost always the first concession to make it easier for an app to work.
“I’ll take my chances.”
I didn’t say “not encrypted”. I said “doesn’t maintain end to end encryption” which they confirm themselves in their FAQ when they say “the message is encrypted on your device, decrypted at the Beeper server, then re-encrypted with the applicable messaging app’s encryption”. This means Beeper can see a plaintext…
That says it’s decrypted at the server and re-encrypted, which is not end to end encryption. And it says after being decrypted at the server it’s re-encrypted using the protocol of whatever app you’re messaging from. Yet in the same breath it also says “iMesaage and WhatsApp are not open source”. So how exactly are…
The game based on the late 2000s animated movie was very good. I have high hopes for this game.
Elon's a bitch. Shocking.
Thinking it's hypothetical is exactly how you get hacked.
It doesn’t maintain end to end encryption. So you’re basically dumping your unencrypted messages on Beeper’s servers.
It doesn't maintain any of the encryption Signal, WhatsApp etc. provide.
