My mom was able to go back to work no problem and she is teaching at the university level. She actually gained tons of work experience teaching us and learning all of the ways kids lie and avoid homework. :)
I worked, played sports, played music, went to local homeschool co-ops (which were mostly very religious and I’m not), and participated in activities like Odyssey of the Mind. I was never short on social interactions and dealing with the situations you described. People think that homeschoolers are stuck in the bubble…
I agree but people have to understand that the opposite is true as well. People without advanced degrees CAN have instructional skill and knowledge (I only say this because a lot of people have been arguing that they can’t). I will be the first to admit that I was extraordinarily lucky with the instruction that my mom…

I played every kind of sport through the Y, took piano and harp lessons, went to outdoor classes on the weekends and had a great group of friends through the…
In some cases the parents are under prepared but my mom was college educated with a master’s in biology. We had a great experience homeschooling and were on par if not ahead of students at our same age level. Now that my mom is finished homeschooling us she is teaching college level biology (and going way easier on…
