YES. This is exactly what we should be talking about.

I know a couple of women who are over 40 with families and still in PR, but they're rare.

I'm a full-time journalist and I've worked with a lot of women in pr. Here's my observation: PR is a great way to straddle the corporate and media worlds and if your clients are hotels, fashion companies, restaurants, retail, it can be kind of glamorous. The pay is better than journalism. It all tends to go pretty

My friend recently discovered BeachBody. Omg. What a multi-level-marketing cult. Now every single Facebook post is either a status update on her workouts or a plea to get her friends to sign up in her group so she can make money or at least get her "Shakeology" deliveries at a discount. She has approached all of us

Yeah, even she acknowledges that it's too late and there's no way to undo the horror that she caused. So she should pay with her own life—-not through capital punishment, but by being denied the right to parole and being unable to rebuild her life on the outside. I think she accepts that. And if she can make some

Can we all finally agree that the fashion industry is predominantly and irredeemably anti-woman? Can we stop squeeing over pretty dresses and ignoring this reality every time fashion week rolls around? On this ostensibly feminist site, can we reserve our space and attention for brands that promote positive, diverse

"So this is my hair before the keratin and then here's me after. Highly recommend, dude."

Uh, the difference between having a child and backpacking in Europe is that one ensures the future of the human race and one doesn't. Or should we farm out the baby-having to unemployable people or other countries? Businesses seem to forget that if they want to have future workers or customers, those people need to be

Did you follow her advice?

Seconded. I was on Martha's show once and got to see her cook up close. She's the real thing. And she still looks amazing in her 70s.

It's not that simple, though. My sister used donor eggs to get pregnant and both she and her donor had to sign a very complicated contract in which the donor repeatedly relinquishes all claims to any children that result from the use of her eggs. They had to do this because many states lack existing case laws

Interesting! I hadn't heard that.

Why is the idea of Dad's Rights such an automatic eyeroll here? I'm a feminist and a mother and I do think that family courts have a way to go in terms of recognizing that fathers can be equal parents. In fact, I benefit from the fact that my husband considers himself equally responsible for our son's well-being.

I agree. He is, in fact, the genetic father. She can call herself a single mother, but when there is a known father in the world who wants to parent this child and they haven't signed any contracts in which he terminates parental rights, the court could recognize his rights (thought it sounds like it didn't here?). It

You've smoked enough of that already.

For what it's worth, that sounds very smart to me (waiting until after kids). I had D-DD breasts before kids and now I'm an E. To be honest, it's a nuisance. Most bra stores don't carry my cup size. I work out a lot and finding exercise tops that fit the girls is annoying. When I shop for tops or dresses, my primary

So given that the New Yorker has always lost money, are their editors being asked to crawl to work on their knees?

Put down the pipe and turn off the computer.

It's called a safety check. No one is getting arrested. Schools do this, too, if they have any concerns about the safety of a child. The point of the visit is not to get anyone in trouble but to simply make sure that someone is looking in on a child in case their caregivers are incapacitated or asleep at the wheel.
