Same argument could be made over Resident Evil 4 or the series’ other remakes we got. or Dead Space, Demon’s Souls, etc etc. Did we NEED them? Not really. Did they receive almost united critical praise despite barely, if at all altering the original plot?  Sure did.

Yeah you’re not wrong. OG7's pacing and reveal of the Big Bad is much better than Remake7. I was trying to be charitable to a game that I otherwise feel is...unecessary, especially given that they went off the rails with the plot. I would recommend people actually play the Remake all the way up to Shinra Tower, and then swap out to OG7 and play from there to the end. I’m personally not a fan of Remake’s story/direction. So much so that even after playing the first one I’ve decided the rest of the project just isn’t for me.
