I’m convinced Square Enix is incapable of making a Remaster that doesn’t jack up the pixel art in some horrendus “FF6 Phone Version” fashion, or FF8/9 where they make the models HD and keep the blurry, low res jpg backgrounds.

Good Capitalism would direct them to sell. Double the stock value is a good price and might increase shareholder investment value, which is the entire purpose of this economic system. And it would be one more step on the Consolidation Train as its rushes towards the inevitable creation of a gaming monopoly which,

Of course it is! I mean, how else are all those people who give Games Journalists shit for “not knowing how to play” going to to look up cheeses, strats, guides, help, item locations, quest points, and copy other people’s OP builds on Day 1 instead of figuring it out themselves?  ;)

As the user ‘Smaug’ replied, consolidation under Capitalism leads inevitably towards monopolies and single companies exerting destructive force/pressure on their industry to the detriment of others. Look no further than Disney having so much control over theaters, forcing out smaller budget films, the industry effect

Things like this really put manga censor bars into perspective. A nerd not being able to see anime tiddies screaming about how “we now live in George Orwen’s 1980 Animal Crossing!!1” looks pretty tame compared to a Right Wing nutjob government striaght up blocking Steam and entire search engines.

You should see people reacting to an Anime adaptation!

But it also looks REAL good on a resume, though. “Hi, I’m the guy who made major gaming news by creating entirely custom tools beyond current capabilities and almost indistinguishable from the actual game’s tech.”

Sometimes the simpleist solutions ARE the right ones.  'Twas just a mod all along.

Get out of here with your sensible business practices and financial organization.

Way to put a subsection of smut modders out of business, EA.

The usual suspects being their usual suspect selves.  It’s literally not worth a second thought.

It’s directionless punching. Like you said, it’s a drunk windmilling in a bar. “Satire requires clarity of purpose...” Etc etc.

This news will be received well, the reaction will be moderate, and sensible discourse will take place.

Exactly. No one is allowed to ask them to change their design because that would be ruining the artistic vision....except please change everything about the following weapons and abilities because we, the people, have determined that you, the devs, are WRONG and must adjust course posthaste!

You know it’s okay to examine creative works of art, right? From lots of different lenses and angles? It’s okay.

A reaction like this is like...show me on the doll where Critical Art Analysis touched you.

Those calling it a “Cash Grab”—a category largely eserved for $1.99 asset flips on Steam—really don’t understand the level of work that goes into things like this. All that graphical fidelity and lighting and everything else is just a Unreal slider in their minds that got pushed to “Better” and then devs hit the

I read this as a throwback to Ancient Kotaku where an Arkham headline along similar lines caused an *incredibly* out-of-proportion response.

[Whistful sigh]

Last I saw of his videos he was obsessing over the box office earnings of a Children’s movie for...Reasons? I guess? Whatever the current Outrage Grift is, he's on it.
