No doubt. Along with the nanny state air bags and seatbelts that protected the children from dying.

The fact that the column was thin metal and crumpled actually likely made a huge difference    Telephone poles and trees are less forgiving

Camry’s HP is impressive and it is fast, but the slush box paired with it takes from the fun.

Yep. Should have known better… impossible to have a nuanced viewpoint on the brand here on Jalopnik. I drive a gas BMW wagon btw. No Tesla plans, just watch what their doing (good and bad) with mild intrigue.

Fair enough my dude. I knew better than to respond to a Tesla article with a defensive viewpoint and did it anyway.

Fun fact. There are almost 200,000 vehicle fires reported annually in the USA.   Vast majority of fires are cars filled with explode liquid fuel. I’m not Tesla apologist, but it appears to be Jalopnik’s goal to showcase every Tesla fire.

So take a $10,500 Cavelier and invest more money?

The issue with those old rigid axle base 90’s Mustangs and Camaro’s was always the huge amount of fender overhanging the outside of the tires.  They just never sat right.

Thankfully battery tech has come a long way since 2008.   The 54 kWh batteries in the model 3 weigh about 300 lbs less than the 54 kWh battery in the original roadster.   In another generation they will be even less.

Yep, i drove an 85 Si in college in the mid 90’s. Loved that car and sometimes wonder why I sold it….. and then remember how I learned all about how to use fiberglass patch kits filling in rust holes under the front floor mats… could lift the mats and see the road and front tires flint stones style.

I agree about fake exhaust outlets…. Hate them, but center is a no go if you want to use a hitch mounted bike rack.

I agree with you, this as peak Honda. I drove the previous version, an 85 Si in college and loved everything about that car. Fun, simple, economical, reliable.  Nothing made today has those three categories except maybe a Miata, but those don’t have the practicality of a hatch.

Was just trying to explain this emotion to my wife as I (a design snob) was showing her the interior photos.   She asked if i would trade my BMW for one and I said no, but I’m just genuinely happy to see Honda making this interior.

The patrons tasting wine are the wrong…..,  demographic.

So was segregation.

Most of these doors and windows are engineered to last a long time now….. of course I say this with a 70,000 mile BMW wagon in the garage with a sunroof that won’t open without a $900 switch replacement so YMMV.

The majority of new car buyers own homes…. So EV’s could drastically increase their market share from 3% to 50-60% easily once range and charge time improve enough.   Eventually charge time will fast enough that charging at home won’t be necessary… but that will be awhile.

The 6.5 years is how long the average American holds on to a new .    12.1 years is how long the average car stays on the road (all owners) so different statistics.

According to KBB the average American holds on to a new car for 6.5 years.  Curious where the 11 year number comes from.

Received Kup for my birthday as a kid and thought it was the worst transformer.    Was supposed to be a truck, but didn’t look like…. Anything.  Maybe a robot laying down.
