I’m continually shocked when reminded of his age.

Thank you. I grew up in a small farm community and live in a Midwest flyover state. Nobody here understands that the tax revenue generated from the liberal blue costal areas literally subsidizes the “heartland”. They all firmly believe it is the opposite. They have been convinced that the big cities are filled with…
The form factor of a 5 door, 2 box design is still superior to a sedan, along with being more practical. Unfortunately people just prefer their hatches as SUV’s instead of cars now.
It is still the best +/- $40k RWD sports sedan you can get, but it’s margin is slipping. Many are changing to FWD based platforms (Audi) or abandoning the segment altogether. I’m bitter because they stopped offering the wagon, leaving me nothing to replace my aging F31.
As I recall the frame flex was the biggest impediment to more power and better grip with these.
No doubt after snorting lines of cocaine off the hood....
These days 20 years ago doesn’t seem like that long ago.... it is all relative.
Yeah. Now you can buy a 4-5 year old GTI or 328i that is just as fast and more reliable/safer than a 25 year old German.
It’s not just mileage. The wiring harnesses on a 25 year old BMW are getting pretty crumbly.
At least Reuters had the integrity to correct it.
Ironically Tesla dropped the price by $1k in January so now they are going back to 2020 prices. And 6 hours later Eric still has not corrected his article. Wow, this place.,,,
Didn’t one of the latest Camaro models set its airbags off if cornered too aggressively at the track?
Modern cars getting quicker doesn’t make 7 seconds and less fun. Jalops love to talk about Integra GS-R’s, NB Miata’s and Porsche 928’s and yet they are all slower than this VW. My only point is that 0-60 time isn’t a good gauge of the fun a car offers.
Somehow Jason failed to mention that the AWD, 300 hp version comes out later this year. And RWD is not “wasted” on a 7 second car. RWD is much more dynamic and not that long ago 7 seconds to 60 was considered pretty quick.
Over 70% of home owners and 35% of renters in the USA live in single family homes and 3/4 of those have garages. Many urban dwellers don’t realize it but people living in dense multi family apartments or condos are the minority . Also there are a lot of big cities, but only a small handful of them have good public…
I have done that very thing, and it still took 4 hours for the transaction. Last house I bought took half that time. I’m fine if dealers stick around but would like a direct option.
That was an interesting read... sort of a Ship of Theseus question I guess. If i replace every single part on an Iron Duke, block included.... is it still an Iron Duke?
Wait, you think you can more than double the HP on an Iron Duke with cams, a header and an intake? The one I had in college blew its head gasket on stock parts at 95,000 miles. I can’t imagine adding more heat and pressure to that time bomb.
My 6’-4” high school football coach drove a Yugo. Early 90’s. You can just imagine the calamity that ensued once the linemen figured out 4-5 of them could carry the car around.
Can confirm. Bought a 10 year old 85 Si in college. Learned to how to fiberglass patching large holes in the floor the next year.
