On the flip side it is so great to actually be able to enjoy taking these cars to redline at legal speeds, even when commuting. With my current BMW, I barely tap into second gear when I hit the speed limit.

Sigh... nobody is banning the Seuss books, the publisher just decided to stop printing certain ones. That is capitalism at work, not some bullshit cancel culture boogeyman.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish are a Catholic Organization and the monicker came from Reverend Matthew Walsh, the Irish Catholic Notre Dame president. Surely you see that this is different right? Naming something after your own identity vs taking one from another group?
Yes, Japanese people eat their meals on the floor, even when elderly, and this is one attribute to their longer lifespan. Meanwhile in America we actively look for ways to avoid bending down another inch.
I drive an AWD BMW wagon and my wife drives a little FWD hatchback (Lexus CT200h). The cars have nearly identical ground clearance. We received 10” of snow a few weeks back and our alley didn’t get plowed for a few days. Despite the low ground clearance my AWD car was able to push and claw itself out of the alley…
My mirrors froze on my BMW last year during an ice storm. When I unlocked the door to unfold them, one side seemed to “break loose” and kind of flapped around. I locked and unlocked the car and they worked just fine, so maybe BMW has some sort of safety built in.
I preface this by saying I’m not a Tesla owner....Your facts are a little off. Most people would spend $500-$1500 to wire their house for an electric car. Level 2 chargers just need a 40-50 amp outlet which isn’t rocket science.
How would you correct the process? Let the companies self report?
You have to admit that CR ratings are far better than Jalopnik commenter anecdotal reliability ratings... which are based on tears and disappointment from people buying 15 year old German cars and expecting the tech to work like new.
I agree mostly, but many of us just prefer the wagon form. Crossovers tend to be chunkier and usually mess up the proportions a bit. They are probably closest to the original cars from 100 years ago though.
Most people are aware of their performance, but I believe that isn’t the motivation of most buyers, especially the volume selling Y and 3. These people aren’t cross shopping them with Corvettes. The cutting edge tech, uniqueness and image are the big differences. Many people simply love the quiet, serene driving…
“Unless you would like it so when auto shows returned they get rid of female brand representatives altogether?”
Agree with you in premise, but the women in the photo are wearing long pants and sleeves and carrying clip boards. You are the one that called them “babes”.
Their fit and finish isn’t as bad as many say and this definitely begs the question of “what is luxury”. It used to be things like 9 way heated seats and leather interiors which can now be found on Honda Civics. Increasingly people are associating that term with electronics and tech, which Tesla delivers on in…
I don’t think it works this way.
Yes but Toyota makes millions of hybrids which have both electric motors and batteries, so the jump to all electric will be easy as they won’t be adopting new tech.
I don’t believe grid stress is a valid concern. New car sales account for about 8% of total cars on the road, so even if all 2021 new cars magically became electric, it would take 15 years to get to most cars on the road being electric. In reality in a decade you might see 20-30% of new car sales being EV’s so it…
When I owned an Odyssey I had plywood and drywall in it numerous times. Took less than 5 minutes to remove the middle row. Just pull a latch and slide them out. Sto and Go is easier but compromise is less comfortable seats. Have rented Chrysler vans numerous times.
Indy does still race a few street courses,I think... including Detroit? Assume they can be setup with a little more travel?
Are used Jag XF Sportbrake wagons getting down to $30k on the used market yet?
