Prove it.

Fellow F31 owner here and I agree.   Thought hard about an All Road as they look better but the rear biased BMW AWD is more dynamic.

True on a very light tune, like the JB+ that I have on my 328i Wagon.... but with an APR Stage 2 you are pushing 50% more power on your GTI at 3,000 rpm... which you would frequently be hitting when daily driving... including when babying a cold start.

I’ll give you that the dealership costs are more but thanks to the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act of 1975, you are in no way required to do your service at the dealer.

I like the concept but most states don’t have inspection requirements so mileage would be self reported.

I had a 16 GTI and maintenance was no different than previous Honda’s that I have owned. Service interval is 10k miles. Yeah, you need to get it done at a place that uses the VW approved fluids so no Jiffy Lube.

Anecdotally I saw a lot of Golf diesels around before the scandal.   But yeah now they are rare.

I agree, but let’s not pretend there is no reliability cost to that extra HP.

I agree with you, but a huge chunk of the United States lives in relatively modern single family homes in suburbia and have garages that could be wired for EV charging for less than $1k. My guess is easily 20-30% of US households, so exponentially growing the 2% market share shouldn’t be too tough.

Not necessarily... they average household in the United States has two cars. For a married couple, one partner could easily have the EV commuter while the other has the fun car, or the long distance hauler, etc..

Can confirm. Grew up in a farm community and my high school buddy drove a VW Dasher diesel and his folks drove Olds diesel sedans.... the one with the shitty head bolts.

Yep, amazed at how many Nextdoor posts lead with “My purse was stolen from the front seat of my car overnight....”

Yeah and why are they listed under “Latest”.

Oddly the power to weight ratio of the Sonic RS is much closer to the base Fiesta which is lighter.

Not in a Turbo motor.

The Sonic RS weighs almost 2900 lbs, similar to cars like the Civic Sport which is a class size larger. The Fiesta ST weighs like 150 lbs less and has 197 hp.

Weight of a Civic Sport and a Chevy Sonic are nearly identical in weight at +/- 2850 lbs.

In my experience the Carmax admin fee isn’t less than $100.

My wife and I have each bought cars at Carmax. Went with them because we wanted relatively rare cars and they have the nationwide network. Both times the cars were within $200 of comparable used models at new car dealers.... but at Carmax the entire sale took like 45 minutes. I have always seen their prices as

Carmax has gotten smarter with their warranty pricing and it isn’t a no brainer anymore. I bought a 4 year old BMW 328i wagon there a few years ago and they wanted $5600 for the warranty, or around 22% the cost of the car. I decided to roll the dice and assume that nothing on it would break costing nearly that
