The EV was in a weight class that limited it to 2200 lbs. The Jetta was a gas car purpose built from the stock car with some weight savings but things like a roll cage added and likely weighed around 3000 lbs.   Also the car was a 2019 Jetta, so not a decade ago.

The super low profile tires and firm suspension plays into this.   The suspension geometry and road angles doesn’t change much without air in the tire.

I had a. 85 Civic Si.    Weighed 1700 lbs and had around 90 hp.    Wasn’t fast by modern standards but it “felt” fast and was a blast to drive.   Part of the equation was the light weight and skinny tires on 13” wheels n easy to break them loose and get the squealing around corners.   Modern cars with low HP numbers

What kind of car does that steering wheel go to.   Looks like an Audi?

Volvo. Hands down for cars currently on the market.... and I’m a BMW wagon owner.

They are all fake by your definition.  Find me a V8 or I4 car with a quad exhaust and 4 individual mufflers.

In a somewhat related note, in the 50’s and 60’s, the American car companies lobbied against seatbelt laws and rollover tests by arguing that occupants were safer being thrown clear of the accident.     Of course at this same time big Tobacco was essentially selling cigarettes as health products.

True, but like 60% of vehicle crashes involve only a single car, and a case could be made that taller vehicles (SUV’s and trucks) have a higher probability of rolling over and worse handling to avoid an accident.

Filled with tremendous instincts I assumed.

Injecting bleach is more convenient for “on the go” Republicans.

And yet with a history of drug abuse and beating women he is free...   do you think this would be true if he were not white?

“drivers and engineers will have no idea what to expect when they hit a hotter August track.

Because some of us like to drive cars, and not all of us have the space to have different daily drivers for different seasons.

Yeah, those early Honda’s were the personification of slow car fast. My Honda was a blast as it revved freely, was agile and the skinny tires on 13” rims screamed around corners.

Statistically the majority of households that can afford these cars have two adults / Two cars where one of the adults can drive the road trip car. I drive a BMW wagon and my wife has a long commute and drives a hybrid. An electric with a 100 mile range would easily work for her and we would take my gas car on the

I don’t own a Tesla, but his experience seems to be what most owners say . Mirror trim may fall off but they still run and are low maintenance.    Sure the occasional one has a bad drive unit, but the occasional Honda eats its transmission.

Probably, but the mod 80’s were a pretty dark time for cars.  The Porsche 944 had 150 hp, only 20 more than the V6 Tempo.    My 85 Civic Si had 89, although it weighed a lot less.

Great description.   Been going the past 20 years and still remember that first time.   Also still get chills during the parade lap each year.

Yeah.  My last car was a GTI which kept them on all times.

Like I said in my post, (perhaps you skimmed) you could own it for several years before losing $16k.   Most owners say to budget $5k annually
