The rain sensing wipers on my BMW default to “off” every time I restart my car, thus negating some of the value.

Look up the sales figures. Nobody remembers the first gen because they barely sold. They were tiny and looked like Toyota’s other tiny economy car, the Echo. Second gen took off because of its unique looks and spacious interior. Also gas prices shot up in 2005/2006.

Ironically you could probably own the real thing for several years before losing $16k in maintenance and depreciation.

Your thinking of a fascist dictatorship.   Not Communism or Socialism.   Trump is a long way from those ideologies.  They just happen to sometimes come with dictators.

It worked for GM because you bought a used one decades later?

Exuberance is because it does everything so well, doesn’t necessarily do one thing great. I owned one for a couple of years before trading it for a BMW wagon. Has mature styling that 40 year old professionals feel ok driving, nice interior, good luggage space, fun to drive, handles well, decent mileage.... and it

My son now drives my wife’s 2006 Civic Hybrid which we bought new.  Has around 220k.   Think we have replaced pads maybe once or twice only?    I believe the pads work in normal driving but are just under very little stress.

Thanks. A few writers that I like have gone there. I still go to ESPN to see scores and stats, and hate myself for giving them traffic as they are the opposite of independent journalists. The Ringer can sometimes have some gems, but hits too much pop culture for my taste. It sounds like the Atlantic has more mature

No side jab.  Was just honestly wanting your opinion on the Atlantic.   I’ve considered paying for a subscription.

The one on the left is Camaro build quality and the one on the right Porsche.    And the stock versions looked a world different.

How is the Atlantic?  Worthwhile replacement for ESPN?

Do they? VW’s turbocharged 2 liter direct injection Diesel engines make about the same torque as their 2 liter direct injection gas engines. When you get into truck engines it is tough to find equal displacement turbo charged large gas engines.

Electric motors are still.... motors. It is right there in the name.   In fact, electric motors are the most common type of motors

Deal, You don’t bash side exhaust and I won’t bash winking headlights

People that were born in 1900 road home from the hospital in a horse drawn carriage and watched man walk on the moon during their retirement years.   Going from level 2 to level 5 (or whatever) autonomy will take some advancement but you seriously don’t think we can get there in 40 years?

100 years is a bold statement given that in the last 100 years we went from horse and buggy travel to walking on the moon, off reading on Mars and sending unmanned spacecraft to Pluto. We aren’t ready for autonomous rock crawling yet but computers are improving exponentially.

True of a lot of things on cars.   Leather interiors.  Dual exhaust.  Bigger wheels....    pop up headlights....

Off roaming doesn’t always equal rock crawling.

It is also a rainforest wood and its harvesting has contributed to the deforestation of South America.
