There are like 60,000 car fires in the United States each year and like 4 Tesla’s have burned, but all we hear about are the Tesla’s.

It also appears that there will be some slight variations, like how on that green one above there’s bits above the headlights to give them a rounder shape, and not all the models appear to have that.
I disagree. It is clean and well proportioned. Plenty (most)/of other makers can’t help themselves from putting random creases and vents all over.
Mazda is wining the car design field right now. Very elegant, thoughtful design. No fake vents or arbitrary creases. Even better that they are an affordable brand.
Also, our cars are all out in public every day with the license plates exposed. Why would anyone care if they are also exposed on the web?
Unfortunately the F31 version only came in AWD to the U.S. It is a rear biased system that is still fun to drive. Can kick out the rear end on slick surfaces. E91 version did come in RWD. No longer a BMW wagon being sold here for 2020, so the only RWD wagon option in the U.S. is currently the AMG wagon (I think).
Highlander is like 800-900 lbs heavier than a Camry. Completely different beast. My 3 series wagon is the exact same length and just a tad heavier than the sedan.
Wrong. Outback wagon is a vastly different beast than my 3-series wagon. Outback is a great vehicle and very practical but has no sporty intentions.
X3 has slightly more cargo space than the 3-series wagon.
Weren’t the leaky roof problems wildly overblown? I had a 2013 Sportwagon with the Pano roof and it was great. Now have a 3-Series wagon with a pano. Doesn’t leak but has a mind of its own.
I bought a 2014 F31 this year with about 60,000 miles. The purists knock the relative lack of road feel compared to older 3 series, but nothing else touches it in the U.S. in wagon form. Maybe the AMG wagon if I wanted to triple my budget.
Definitely a hatchback. Interior space similar to a Golf and other small hatchbacks. Rear cargo area slopes way to much to be a wagon.
I just picked up a lightly used F31 BMW wagon. Turbo 4 makes doesn’t have the straight 6 sounds but gets around 32+ on the highway due to the efficient 2 .0 turbo and impressive eight speed transmission... and is faster than the previous inline 6 version.
CUV’s are technically tall wagons, but dynamically different due to the typical added weight and higher center of gravity. I just bought a lightly used 328i wagon. It weighs 3500 lbs and has more interior room , horsepower and better mileage than the heavier X1. It is exactly the same length as the 3 series sedan…
This is a great answer. A semi hot hatch that makes me do a double take whenever I see one. Great looking cars.
Somehow I see this as different. It is still a fun low slung hatchback, but with fender flares and fat tires. More rally car than CUV. Perfect for terrible midwestern roads. Modern cars have way too little sidewall. I fantasize about some BFG off road tires on my AWD BMW wagon.
Agree, but it was unclear from this article, or any of the other ones if the failed units truly gave this result.... or if this was a mere possibility.
Such as over-engineer it to be needlessly complicated? I’m certainly far from a Tesla apologist, but it sounds like Jalopnik is blowing this up to be bigger that it really is, as they do with all things Tesla. Sounds like it could be an easy fix. Plenty of other manufacturers who have been established for far longer…
My BMW’s panoramic sunroof stopped working at year 5. My VW diesels fuel filler tube safety broke in year 2 preventing me from being able to fuel it.
