Well for the first couple games, the legendary Pokemon were just one-of-a-kind and ultra powerful beings. The dabbled with that a bit with Mew being the first Pokemon (think Adam and Eevee) and Celebi traveling through time, but for the most part, the legendary birds, legendary beasts, and Mewtwo were just massively

I liked how it was in the first gen (yes, roast me) - the starters were the featured Pokemon and not the legendaries, so Mewtwo, Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres got to feel like they naturally existed in the world rather than the world existing around them. It felt like a neat treat and a surprise when you stumbled

I’ve worked on a Destiny-like game before, while I don’t want to forgive the Bungie guys for all their mistakes, it is exceedingly hard to keep all of your old content playable over a multiyear game. Just the amount of content alone grows to an amount where you have to develop an entire system for load/unloading

Serious Florida Man vibes.

I paid more than $60 for SNES games on release, and that was in 90s money. If you take inflation into account, game prices have dropped by half over the last 30 years.

Exactly.

Now, if we want to discuss the quality of some of these games at that price point, that’s a different matter. Same goes for DLC, in-game stores, ect...

People really shouldn't still or have had a problem with this. It's 10 bucks and the price had been 60 for a decade and a half. It was never going to stay flat.

Thanks to being a PC/console gamer with Game Pass PC, I don’t even think about $70 games as an option anymore. I just play Xbox-exclusives on Game Pass, look for an interesting indie game, and then when the inevitable sales happen I just scoop stuff up at 25-50% off.

Meanwhile, we just got this limited edition 19cm Godzilla action figure that doubles as access card for the Taipei Metro... It lights up and goes “roar” when you swipe to get through the gate.

I think Datto’s rage-y take was pretty much spot on.

For all its in-game improvements, the out-of-game onboarding experience for players in D2 is still disastrously bad, and only getting worse. If this was a value-add to something like the Legacy Collection, it would be a great idea. But as a standalone, overpriced,

Can only speak for me, but... I enjoyed it. I didn’t “hype” (I’ve grown out of that, I find that I enjoy games a lot more if I’m not expecting The Greatest Game EVAR!”), bought it at launch, and played it for 170 hours. And then I moved on to one of the many other big releases that came out at the same time. (just

Because it’s a single player game and over time people become done with them and move onto other stuff? And it also didn’t review as well as their previous games and less people are into it.

Not everything is a live service, it’s ok to be done with a game.

So... who decided on the B+ grade?

Are there people who actually consider BG3 and Death Stranding to be indie games? I agree that the category is kind of ill-defined, but I also think that calling a game made by hundreds of people with budgets in the hundreds of millions of dollars “independent” is just... painfully misleading. Larian has SIX studios.

Ummm... have you been watching what’s happening around here and across the (remaining) G/O sites? I’m surprised they’re still able to keep the lights on, and now you want full-on proofreading and editing and stuff? That costs money, Jack. And I don’t think the check is in the mail.

There’s a tendon in your thumb that is flexed when the thumbsticks are in the lower position. Over time, this causes strain and can lead to pain and other issues. I know this because I developed tendonitis in that tendon and my physical therapist explained it to me. I now exclusively use xbox-layout controllers, and

Wow, now the comment section is an article... and not just any article, a slideshow, for as many clicks as possible. A sizeable number of those comments didn’t even seem to know the difference between a remake and a remaster or how dev cycles work... This might be a new low.

More rereleases than entries is a huge red flag

I get that I’m not the target audience for this stuff, but I’ve never seen a thumbnail promoting something I should “watch immediately” that seemed less appealing.

To me, the playstation controller forces the thumbs to be flexed, in a way, downward at all times. At all times using the controller the muscles of my hand are tense, whereas the xbox controller just rests in my hand.
