They don’t. It will probably be set in that 20 year timespan and simply won’t contradict BvS or JL, but they will not be required viewing, either.

I think you misunderstood the ending of Wonder Woman. Ares himself explains that he doesn’t make people use the weapons, he just gives them ideas for them. And Wonder Woman gives a long speech about how every person has both darkness and light inside them, and its up to them to decide which one to embrace.

They aren’t, though. Saying the Batman is a standalone film is not really news when Wonder Woman and Aquaman are as well.

To be fair, he was the one who pushed for an interconnected universe, Justice League, and solo films for each member such as Wonder Woman and Aquaman. Those may have happened eventually, but not in 2017 and 2018, nor would they probably have been connected as they will be now.

There was absolutely no reason to make standalone Deadshot, Harley Quinn, Killer Croc, and Captain Boomerang movies before making Suicide Squad. The argument for doing JL solo movies before making JL made sense, that does not.

Eh, I’m not excited to see a CW-budget level Batman costume. The Hoechlin Superman outfit was bad enough.
