Thanks, kid. Mike Pence also owes me (and every other LGBT person) and every woman in America an apology. But it’s a start.

Now playing

Can’t believe I haven’t seen this posted yet:

I only went to my graduation because my Mom wanted to see me graduate. It was the same for my brother. Sitting in a gym for hours listening to random people’s names being called isn’t really how I enjoy spending my time.

Ugh! I had a terrible first-and-only-date with a guy who did this to me. I really like football, and I know a lot more than your average Joe, particularly about my home team...so the topic comes up, and he decides to grill me on every rarely-used play at me and each position’s specific role and on 8th-round draft

You know, that sounds about right. It was all about what the boys did to the girls. Hannah is dead so there can’t be any exploration of her depression in any real way. All we have are tapes that are lessons for the boys to be better.

This is a really thoughtful, well-written piece. Young people are capable of consuming media critically, and for those of us who are adults (however much of a technicality that feels like) should be giving them the tools to do that, instead of simply hand-wringing over it.

And all those acronyms for pregnancy boards and the like: DH, DS, DD (dear hubby, son and daughter), LO (little one) and a bunch of others I can’t be assed to remember.

I hate to go dark but – I didn’t hear any reports of rapes, or assaults, or drug overdoses, or someone drinking all his plane vodka and going on a rampage against the locals, whatever. These kids are dumb, dumb, dumb, but at least they didn’t Woodstock ‘99 the place.

Ron Paul, Paul Ryan, Rand Paul he thinks they are one person.

I disagree that his use of the term was misguided. If we’re working from this definition of concentration camp:

I understand being upset about the cost of protection, but do people who aren’t invested in propping up an illusion of normalcy care that she’s not doing First Lady things?

Adopting your black siblings because of abuse is kinship. Adopting their race for your benefit is supermecy. It’s not hard. No one is denying she and he siblings we abused. So the levels you’ve taken this discussion to aren’t necessary.

She’s absolutely crazy, but I don’t think it can be directly tied to the abuse she suffered. She sued her college for discrimination - because she was the white minority. She didn’t start pretending to be black until she left.

Just because you’ve adopted children of another race (including her adoptive brothers) does not give you the right to appropriate their race for your gain. That is a fucked up thing to put on the adopted children.

Like you could literally stand a light skinned, blonde haired, blue eyed person up in front of me and have them tell me they were black and as a white man I would feel really uncomfortable challenging that out loud.

She’s essentially treating race or ethnicity like it’s something you can personally change. I see this a lot with some Americans. Lots of Jewish people I’ve met in the US like to say “I’m not Jewish, I don’t feel Jewish. It’s not how I was raised.” LOL. You think that matters one damn bit when the person in power

Damn, Ijeoma Oluo is no joke. Her interview was a damn good read. She got at the crux of the problem with this crazy bitch. Rachel is a BETTER Black woman than you. She knows MORE about Blackness than you, a Black woman, could possibly know. Because she read some books and CHOSE Blackness, see, and you were just born

This man is a hero. The courage it must take to be an outspoken and highly-visible abortion provider in this day and age, when you have seen your colleagues killed, and in the face of rabid anti-choice activists and legislation, is tremendous. I fervently wish for his continued safety.

This whole “OBEY ANY AND EVERY ORDER YOU ARE GIVEN OR YOUR HUMAN RIGHTS ARE FORFEIT” deal aboard airliners is getting really old.
