Maybe the real problem is allowing oneself to use the same binary terms to define individuals these days. There are literally countless ways to judge an individual - you can look at their actions (past or present), their religion, how they raise their kids, how they manage their money, etc. No matter how many

Here’s where I don’t quite buy the film makers’ points. Without seeing this movie yet, I don’t see how those being hunted (the conservatives), could NOT be shown as mostly the “good guys” in this situation since they are the ones being hunted. Unless this movie is similar to one of those satire horror movies, where

Half or more of those 70 million followers are bots, spam, propaganda, or dummy/inactive accounts. Like every other number he bases his self-image on, it’s lies. But still, it’s 35m people, and he did get 46% of the electorate.

I saw what I thought was a pretty apt Tweet not long ago, in response to an exhausting NYT attempt to Understand Trump Voters. I’m paraphrasing, but it went something like this:

Direct example: Rush Limbaugh calls Chelsey Clinton (a child at the time) the White House Dog, just got the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Pamela Karlan says “while the president can name his son Barron, he cannot make him a baron”. Whoa! Too far! How dare she!

And ICE is a million times more dangerous than any individual person set free by a sanctuary city policy.

Um, none of those definitions are what you stated, “laws, policies, or something enforced in order to avoid offending or putting a certain group of people at a disadvantage.” Those definitions are about language and actions — none of them even mention laws or policies. So fuck off with that shit.

A common definition of political correctness are laws, policies, or something enforced in order to avoid offending or putting a certain group of people at a disadvantage.

The point here is that NYC has specific policies that hinders ICE’s operations.

“if they made a movie about conservatives hunting liberals would anyone want to see another one of those?” - Starring Betty Gilpin as a hunted liberal who fights back and wins? Hell, yes, please!

How can you make a movie with biting satire when shit like this exists? There’s nowhere left to go.

None of that is due to “political correctness.” He was arrested, arraigned, and then released on bail, just like any other person arrested. The DA could have easily asked for him to be held without bail, but they didn’t. It’s a shitty situation, but not one that was due to “political correctness.”

Here’s what I understand: Conservatives have little to no sense of humor or irony.

Oh look, here’s a popular souvenir sold at every wingnut convention FOR THE PAST 40 YEARS. Obviously, the poor wittle snowflakes’ feelings are what’s most important here.

The irony is I see Conservatives talk about doing FAR worse things to Liberals all the time without batting an eye.

Yeah, people need to accept that while the left-of-center crowd is far from perfect, the right is actively — even proudly — genocidal. So the right is clearly in the objective wrong and needs to be slapped upside their collective heads.

This. I’m so fucking tired of the “both sides” argument. You’ve got literal NAZIs stomping around and killing people and the media’s antithesis is people who want people to be able to use the bathroom unmolested? Fuck that.

The “extremism is bad no matter what” stance gained a lot of prevalence in the 90s. It’s now old hat and has very little to say. Asking someone to speak to others with preferred pronouns is not the same as taking away healthcare.

Yes, the most bare-bones description of the movie is about liberals hunting conservatives. But the movie isn’t pro-liberal, nor is pro-conservative. If anything, it’s anti-both of them, aiming to be a humorous, over-the-top action satire showing the worst extremes and how that can lead to major issues.

It was also a comedy and that scene was played for laughs. I see it more as a 23rd Century person not knowing how to swear in the 20th Century, sort of if you went back to the 17th Century you wouldn’t know how to swear or insult someone in that time period’s vernacular, thou mutton-scented tallow keech.
