It's interesting you say that promotion isn't for fans, when fans have been pushing back on the support for Osaka by saying that the critics weren't tennis fans and so had no idea what they were saying.

It needn't be.

Mental health is absolutely an 'excuse' here. Thinking otherwise is either ignorance and dismissal of mental health issues, or believing that Osaka is lying.

Neither should others actively try to hinder her efforts to take responsibility. If she acted immaturely in the moment, how was the French Open and other tournament organizers' escalation of the matter not similarly immature?

Or looking at it from the other direction, we should all hope for that level of entitlement.

They weren’t stopping at that though. The fine is supposed to be a deterrent, not a fee. Which would be another thing entirely.

That's not what relevant to her job and it shouldn't be. And this is not about the fine. It's about the threat of greater punishments later.

My head hurts...

That more or less led to a brutal civil war and a dynastic shift after centuries, so probably not the best example of a nothing-burger.

Utter ignorance and lack if thought is often a cause of racist actions. That’s why learning and growing is usually part of figuring about how and why racism is bad.

Did they sell this expansion DLC that will now not happen?

This is a very strange comment. China is hardly the only country in the world to have major social upheaval related to wars and revolutions. What does the Boxer Rebellion have to do with demographics?

America’s obsession with military worship remains as disturbing as ever. What millions died? What Freedom did they protect? America hasn’t fought a defensive war in over 150 years. The collective casualty numbers of all major wars in the last century barely reach a million, and not a one of them involved defending

Fucking hell that man is an idiot.

That’s a reason to support Osaka, not bash her.

I made the mistake of reading through that. The sheer entitlement was staggering.

The press gained her sponsorships? Not her performance?

“The rules of the sport” shouldn't mandate press interactions after the actual sport part of it has finished.

Did anyone here read the Deadspin take on this? Since the comments there are forever closed, no chance of ask8ng there.

The fact that this comment has so many stars is truly pathetic.
