I honestly couldn't figure out what is supposed to be about, to be honest. It was just a bunch of unconnected shots that look pretty enough, I guess.

Dunno if it's been mentioned yet, but The Breaking Point itself is an anime reference. Ryouga, an antagonist/frenemy from Ranma 1/2 has The Breaking Point as his signature technique that allows him to shatter any non-living object with a single finger.

The eyecatch seemed very clearly modelled after the Sailor Moon R eyecatch with the way the characters kinda float into their places…but the bit with Steven falling on his face in front of them seemed to be from the first series of Marmalade Boy eyecatches. So…yeah…very 90's anime nostalgic!

Nah, one of the episodes revealed that getting beaten to a bloody pulp by the PowerPuff Girls is an integral part of monster culture. It's their coming-of-age ritual. They all look forward to it.
