what what what?? this is fascinating, but I know nothing of it — please let me know where I can learn more!
Anybody else endeared by James Taylor's fleece? I really liked his performance — on top of being "pleasant" and "nice," it was sweet, quiet and thoughtful, and, I think, a really lovely and imperfect counterpart to all the pomp and brass bandy-ness.
Amazing. Viola Swamp is my teacher hero.
Love it! I wanted to go as Viola Swamp for Halloween this year too, but ended up getting a cold and missing out on all the fun :*(
I'm with you 100%. As a young academic with a babyface I have to do everything I can to look seriously serious — heels and no-nonsense (bordering on Viola Swamp) clothes and makeup included.
Thanks very much!
This. is. amazing. You've made my morning!
Could we please get a link to the original article? This sounds fascinating.
yikes. thank you!
Was anybody able to take a quick screenshot of the shirt? The item is, of course, currently out of stock ;\ (emoticon has mixed feelings)
Thanks for breaking it down, I'll do some more research on the interwebs! (totally would not want the violinist using my organs)
Hi, would you please explain the "violinist being attached to you" argument? I've never heard of it and I'm genuinely interested!
Thanks for your measured response, I felt the same way about the majority of comments slamming the piece and I'm happy to see that someone's already posted to that effect!
Thank you. I have rosacea and know, for a fact, that my own syndrome is brought on by environmental conditions that trigger my skin's "flushing" — stinky cheeses, strawberries, alcohol, hot weather, cold weather, skin irritants, etc. I would have to have a lot — A LOT — of bugs dying and exploding multiple times a day…
Wow, that's a great exercise, I think I'll start doing so as well! Thanks for that tip.
It's all about social control. Access to a cell phone/mass media/the internet/etc. is very dangerous to Al-Qaeda and other radical fundamentalist groups because it undermines their authority.
The Tomato Nation "Yes, You Are" manifesto is my go to as well — glad you shared it here! I've also used it the past two years in a row in one course (college freshmen) in particular, and I generally get very good results with it (engaged students, lively discussion, "new" feminists — male and female — etc).
I am so super into this woman. I live and vote in California, but I still sport a "Gillibrand for Senate" bumper sticker.
I completely agree with you; it seems like a business model that — even if done unintentionally! — preys on people who desperately want to get ahead and do well for themselves. It just seems so manipulative.
