I had this exact same experience when I saw Dylan in concert! I just remember laughing my ass off because not only were the words indistinguishable from song to song, he sang every song the same way, to the same tune — even when he covered "Brown Sugar"!

I have watched the film, a handful of times over the years, and love it. I just didn't know about the two mini-series. Thanks for the suggestion, I managed to track down the first two episodes of '86 on Youtube and now I'll see if I can scrounge up the rest!
