Saw them in Denver with Bad Brains in 92 or 93. Great show.

Exactly why people should not be fired over mere offense for statements outside of work. Being offended is not the end of the world.

That is at work. At work is different. Roseanne’s show was a success. GOTG movies sell a lot of tickets. There is no sign any of it was bad for business. If the product performs poorly, fire them.  You will find that the public doesn't care much about this.

So you are good with Disney dropping Gunn. I think your view is terrible, but at least it is consistent.

The difference is that I don't think anyone should be fired for offending me. Nice try, tho.

Who makes these difficult judgments? You?

Roseanne’s tweet was not in the workplace. Words are not the same as physical assault and the desire to treat them as such is entirely the problem.

So what? People don't need to be fired for saying mean spirited, bitchy things.

I clearly said no one should be fired for speech outside of work. I blame the left, because in my view, the left has created the climate that has been exploited by Cernovich, et al to fire Gunn. You can’t have Roseanne or Schilling without this outcome. It is inevitable.

You are missing the part where I don’t think Gunn should be fired. I don’t think Schilling should be fired. I don’t think Jemele Hill should be demoted. I don’t think words have the power you describe unless you choose to let them. What happens at work should be based on what people do at work (Bill O'Reilly should

Probably a factor in its bad ending.

“For you.”

Is it legal to close Blockbuster? The horse and buggy factory? Kodak?

It is dumb to fire anyone for words and not deeds. Destroying people personally does not make them more tolerant - it just makes you feel better about your own failings. By your own measure, Trump’s pussy grab comments should be ignored. It was more than 10 years ago, and he didn’t “mean it.”

How about looking at California dumping thousands of violent offenders on the street as a reason?

The left invited them to weaponize outrage by making it a weapon in the first place.

Your language reveals your bias, and the fact that you are unable to see that is the same thing if you fire Schilling for tweets that offend and if you fire Gunn for the same thing, regardless of who exposed the offensive tweets. How about we stop firing people for what they say, and instead just fire people for what

Yep. Rationalization is the comfort refuge of the hypocrite.

If you had no problem with Gottfried losing his job, then you should have no problem with James Gunn losing his.   There is no way to draw a principled distinction, and no one should lose their job over this shit.
