I am that black person, and it is annoying as hell. I don't really give a shit about all this "cultural appropriation," and I honestly understand why a bunch of white people feel the need to be offended for me.
I'm not sure what you're getting at here. Since when does poor = stupid?
Honestly, I don't think Kickstarter has an obligation to take down the project because technically his writings are not hate speech. Plus, they're just a funding platform whose their main concern is money. Yes, I find it offensive, but I won't deny anyone their write to free (yet idiotic) speech.
That Whitney Pozgay line is so cute, and I would buy everything if I could but:
Read the article. It's meant to be about about height, weight.
As someone who's never seen either name before right now I'd pronounce "Kadence" differently from "Kaidence" (Hence, why I think the "i" is necessary if they want it automatically pronounced with a hard a sound.)
For those of you saying that college kids take Adderall because they're lazy, you are incredibly wrong. They take Adderall because of the pressure to get perfect GPA's while also dedicating time to amazing extracurriculars so that they can get into top grad schools or obtain amazing jobs after graduation.
Eh, I think leaving a few roadblocks in our way to success is necessary, especially in such a competitive industry. If you're not willing to work hard and be resourceful for a few months during an internship, then they'll always be someone else who will.
So I was laughing at one of the comments here, and when my stepdad asked what I was reading I mentioned that one of the things young Flake said was about Mexicans being the scum of the Earth.
BEST. COMMERCIALS. EVER. My entire family has them all memorized, quoting them is an inside joke of ours (which has led to many hilarious public moments), and we'll actually pause the tv when one comes on so we can all watch.
Better than being an entitled brat...
1. The sentence right before that says: "...channel fictitious character May Boatwright by writing in first person — as if they were her..."
Kanye is actually really insightful, and his confidence is admirable. I don't really see why you all are so quick to just laugh at him. He isn't a millionaire because he let people walk all over him. He's self-assured and that's what got him so far in life. You all just sound like you're insecure and jealous.
The assignment isn't asking them "Why is it okay that she killed herself?" It's asking the students to think sincerely about what was going on in the story, think about the ways in which it affected her life, and then to list the reasons that they believe she might have given for killing herself. I don't see why…
That's a good point. Question: Would you still say that if this was class of high school seniors instead of freshman? At which point do we stop holding these kids' hands?
But they're not writing about themselves.
I don't really see a problem with this. It's an English class, they read a book in which suicide is a main plot point. They're going to have to discuss it somehow. At least this assignment was creative. I don't know why anyone would find this more triggering than any other assignment or profound class discussion.
As a person currently on her lunch break at an unpaid internship for a production company, I'm not entirely sure how I feel about this ruling. On one hand, it's nice to think about possible getting paid for what I'm doing, but on the other hand, I don't really think there's anything wrong with us interns not getting…
I was 7 when that movie came out so I'm not so sure I can consider it my generation. Lol. I will, however, add it to my instant queue.
