Anyone remember Mae Whitman's first robbery drama Thief (2006)? Mae played Andre Braugher's daughter, and the series lasted only 6 episodes and won award nominations. Cancelled WAY too soon, possibly a writer's strike casualty but it's a blur.

Same. Infrequent watcher, but enjoyed the O'Neal hijinks.

THIS^^^ I'm paying attention to the horrific sexual violence which women of color, poor women and LGBT women endure both pre- and post-Gilead. Ofglen's 2.0 adds the needed POV and exercise of limited agency in how these women perceive that the Handmaid Condition solves their economic needs or "redeems" them, i.e.,

The contrivance was a means to an end, so I believe this incident matters more than you credit it. It's a tired cliche, but correct - this dark room scene shows more than it tells.

Could it have started as an escape, which almost turned into a suicide attempt; then it turned again by Offred's eye lock/ nod of approving chutzpah into "lemme fuck shit up while i can"? For once Janine's hysterical laughter was the cue I followed

I worried too. I blame Big Little Lies. It's residual trauma from watching a suave wealthy soft-spoken man prone to violent backlash whenever a woman challenges him.

Fixed. Thanks.

Oh yes, her vintage 80s jeans are everything! I lean towards Sergio Valente's Deep 'V' stitch patterns in denim pockets. I don't see Gloria Vanderbilt's signature golden swan patch. Perhaps costume designer Katie Irish removes rectangular patches inscribed with jean brand names so we can't identify the brand

Here's the video clip of Elizabeth and Philip in ep. 1x1, when the couple dispose of Timoshev's body, are intimate in the car, and their marraige starts to 'become real', scored to Phil Collins "In the Air Tonight."

"He doesn't even know you!"

deleted my reply because my comment morphed into a different subject altogether. reposted it downthread to newest.

Long Version of My Initial Reply to The Deleted Paragraph:l

Thanks for this explanation. It was so random. I don't think Erik Adams the AV Club reviewer ever wades into these comments, so I was taken aback. I saved the paragraph, so I might as well post it. No words wasted.

The camera downward gaze and the camera position over and between Philip's and Elizabeth's shoulder were excellent visual storytelling devices to convey the Jennings' disapproval and distrust of Claudia's reports from the Centre.

Good point about Young Hee's signifincance, @NonUnionMexicanEquivlanet

Elizabeth-Dee wins most monstrous for the emptiest words of comfort to Evgheniya.

Best surprise wedding most befitting a spy couple! No dressing up. No witnesses but the priest. All Philip had to do was pull out the "Holy Matrimony' fake document, queue my eyes welling up. Sight of solitary red candle in sparse warehouse, unleash my waterworks. Happy tears.

Exactly! Your example of a racist Handmaid, or Commander's Wife for that matter, I'd expect to be more norm than anomaly. Also, your point about historically racist laws against Chinese laborers introduces to me the question of Asian American futures in Gilead. No way would these upper class white women unlearn

I hear you. I, personally, try not to read too many interviews and profiles of actors I admire. I'm invested in maintaining the mystique and never conflating the characters I love with their actual personalities. That way, I'm not crestfallen and disillusioned if the folks I admire say batsh*t crazy comments in an

Jan 24 is a good day to be born. The cerebral idealist Aquarius traits in Ms. Coon are strong indeed. I don't resemble her or your in the least, but I do share that birthday as well as Coon's tastes in book and TV shows, which she named in a recent NY mag/Vulture interview with E. Alex Jung. http://www.vulture.com/2017
