A.V. Club, please give this writer some shows to review! She is twice as funny as last week's SNL! and has perspective.
At least you agree that all of Theo's sisters were cooler than Theo?
Eddie Huang: strange and interesting!
Not having read the book, I was so curious to see how/why Eddie came to identify so strongly with hiphop culture & basketball back in New Jersey, according to this show. Was it truly part of his neighborhood experience (suburb? city?) and/or his reaction to being stereotyped by whites or blacks. Was it his idea of…
That push-back was great, and the "moosh pit"——maybe the principal was thinking about the Koosh ball?
Much Love! Imagine your Dad being able to do that when it Was fresh!!
The father son/plot was Cosby Show 2.0(early 2st century reference). Eddie is cooler than Theo and Louis is not authoritarian like Cliff, and can break! Heartwarming, but such a waste of the fresher point of view that Original Eddie provided!
Actually the wig she wore in the premiere looked so orthodox that I had to remind myself JM had indeed bared her arms in past seasons. And yes her real hair is gorgeous!
Cary got his name from Alicia. He told her he'd "ask around" for the 3 p.i.'s reputations, but instead gave their names to Diane as potential hires. Slimy.
The "Fox & Friends" parody is only amusing if you've never seen any of the previous funnier ones and you don't know what Elizabeth Hasselhoff is like so you don't mind that the sketcher playing her doesn't get one whiff of her personality or body language, doing a lazy watered down version of her typical whiny girl…
Or maybe whether it;s funny? or insightful? or thought-provoking?
Yes, she changes her body language & rhythm for every cameo, as well as her hair! while most of the other cast members have only 1 or two "types" they commit to, types that aren't funny or insightful.
Don't understand why the reviewer, Alasdair Wilkins, didn't help us out. Guessing if TFK was a recurring villain in D. Who he would have mentioned their history. Strange also that D. Who himself doesn't pontificate about TFK to his captive audience(the trapped humans), Clara, or the tv audience or harangue TFK with…
Maybe British people have some deep knowledge of the Fisher King mythology that they didn't fill in/allude to for US audiences? All I know is the old Mercedes Reuhl/Terry Gilliam movie The Fisher King which suggested he was searching for the Holy Grail. I saw it so long ago, but didn't get any sense then that The…
I have always actively disliked her & found her mannerisms similar in different parts. At first just enjoyed her convincing accent, in contrast to Wilson & West who seemed to slip in and out of several, including hers at times & felt her part was more believable in both versions. Gradually realized how subtle her…
Yes, the leaker is so dried out & plain looking it's hard to imagine her wishing anyone well, even if she wasn't suspicious and/or jealous of her long-time employers adopted kids, who she clearly never bonded with or cared about.
Yes, the lighthearted music for the opening montage added to the terrifying effect. The sobbing father whose bail was increased because Alicia took 30 seconds to advocate for him was haunting.
Great idea, and one the show has neglected.
And also to deal with the belief I've heard from more than a few gay guys that there is really no such thing as a male bisexual!
