I scanned through a lot of these, and didn’t see my answer. Really for me it was these three:

Good, that means they'd have less revenue. But some willing to spend 42 on an Audi might be convinced to spend 50. Which means more revenue.

TT starts at 42, 718 starts at 56. They could stick this at 50 and cannabalize up on the TT and slotting something in to the old boxsters starting price. Plus they'll have something that can sit between a TT and an R8 in their showroom. Who knows if they'd do it, but they could fit it in their lineup.

Better that they cannibalize one of their products than a competitor.

Yeah don’t you just hate it when auto journalists post fake or speculative images of an “Apple car”. Like these scum bags:

I don’t think they build the Rotary though because they’re trying to make something as fuel efficient as possible. They build it because it’s a part of their history, a passion for the brand and a large number of their engineers. Just given the size of Mazda I’m sure a new Wankel will likely still lag behind many

Seriously. I might be wrong in saying this, but they have got to be the last manufacturer you can’t buy a hybrid, a CVT, or a downsized engine with a turbo so it’s “more fuel efficient”.

I wouldn’t say 4-pot turbos run circles around the Wankel. Keep in mind that the last Mazda Rotary we saw was released in 2003. A 2006 WRX STI (with a 2.5l engine) produced 230-hp, while the 2003 “high power” was claimed to be 249, although it’s pretty well accepted they were likely closer to 228.

I highly doubt it. While the rest of the Auto Manufacturers are sticking in turbos, hybrid systems, and CVT in all their cars, mazda is sticking to NA motors with hydraulic automatics and the majority of the time a manual gearbox option.

Assuming this isn't a hype bubbles that's going to pop, if you continue with the reservation it should be easy to flip and make that 1000 back. Also putting a deposit to preorder cars is nothing new... The length of the preorder isn't common, but neither is the amount of hype tesla has.

Not nearly as bad in black

founded in 44 as a bicycle company.... I'm not sure that counts

What about tesla? What about Kia? What about Toyota? I’m sorry but the idea that making cars now is so impossible no one is able to just come in and make an impact is flat wrong.

The reason it won’t be ready until 2019 is BECAUSE of testing and QA. Development cycles for life critical systems is vastly different. If they operated like other companies we would have planes falling out of the sky.

How do you know they won’t make a car? They’re clearly already building a car(that mouse thing), unlike apple who seems to be strapping things on Lexus’s.

This is from Gene Munster, I wouldn’t believe a word:

This is reported to do 0-60 in 6.1, a Q5 2.0T is 7(and starts at 40). The 3.0'T’ starts over 50 and does 0-60 in 6.0. So comparatively the Porsche doesn’t seem that marked up. (220hp vs 252hp for the 2.0T’s)

It's a fast suv with a luxury badge.

Sorry, didn’t realize they bumped up performance that much with the new boxster. In that case the boxster is 56, whie a Macan S is 54, and they’re 4.9 and 5.2 to 60 respectively. Prior to the new boxster a Macan s was cheaper and faster, now it’s cheaper and barely slower. Sure a CUV handles worse than a roadster, but

To everyone whining about how over priced this thing is, lets put it into perspective.
