“RX-8s are reliable as long as you do a whole bunch of super secret stuff that’s not in the factory maintenance schedule aka it’s not reliable LS swap them.

The Drive is better on ads has a super toxic comment section for some reason. It is all weird boomer trump supporters. I stopped visiting for that reason - the comments are half the fun.

It basically covers the added warranty costs.

That’s about how much an aftermarket tune costs anyway.

exactly. if it was a bit cheaper it would be ideal for my work car which only has to travel round trip less than its ev range daily

What exactly isn’t “Practical” about it? it’ll get you from point A - B in EV mode for what like 40 miles? which is great, it’s smaller so it’s easier to park and maneuver in the city, it has sizable trunk space. What more is considered practical?

They drive just like a Mercedes E-class. Which is nice, perfectly capable, but not particularly “sporty” or encouraging of fun (I have owned three E-class wagons). I imagine, having never driven one, that the SRT-8 handles marginally better but rides far worse, which is not a good trade0ff to me.

Heavy, ponderous things with little joy in driving them,

Uh-huh, as if teaching Snot Nose to drive defensively given the car’s handicaps is a bad thing.

I irrationally love this artifact from before things went all grayscale. I love the steering wheel, all shiny green and fake wood. The whole interior really evokes something much older, which makes sense for the Mercury demographic.

Yes all day. Get some clear ceramic tint. Upgrade suspension/brakes with crown vic P71/mustang stuff and ride clean.

If this is priced correctly for the market, that means it is NP. The question isn’t whether or not you personally want to own one - the question is if the owner has priced it well or if they are out of their mind.

I think the older models are less fug, however I am glad they haven’t jumped on the “gaping maw” front end so many makes and models currently sport.

In this market? Probably a quick search on carfax shows two one with 128K for 9200 one with 198K for 6900. So it is in the ballpark.

This isn’t a particularly rare car, it’s just a 90s SL. There were hundreds of thousands made, if you want a pristine example it’s not that hard to find. People having fun with cars isn’t something that should make you this angry.

Buy it, wrap it, and peel the wrap off in the event that Lipsitz actually does become famous. At worst you’ve scored a cool car for a bargain. At best you will make some serious money when an insufferable art collector decides that they must have something from before Lipsitz “sold out and went mainstream”.

I gave it a NP because it’s at least $9000 cheaper than any other 1996 Impala SS for sale and it still comes with the factory wheels.

Roadmaster: good call.

Poor decisions were made here. And while it is currently sporting a stock stereo, you can bet your ass it recently didn’t and the wiring is likely all hacked up too. This one is a shit-show.

I know this is the season of goodwill, the market is stupid, and I’m old, but I refuse to accept that one of these is worth anything more than $200. This is where the line is.
