Michael Che went from a SNL writer to a Daily Show correspondent for a summer (him and Olivia Munn pretty much bounced almost immediately for something else), and went back to SNL for a more prominent role when SNL was getting flak for a lack of POC.

That’s fair! I think Cecily Strong could probably do some good straight man roles, but I also think that Colin Jost’s blandness is his strength here.

The two dudes you’re talking about (and I do forget their names) are now set, at least until Trump’s inpeachment/arrest/institutionalization. They really are perfect playing Don Jr. and Eric.

Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon are the best thing that ever happened to SNL. Not only do they need more diverse hiring, they also need Lorne Michaels to retire and get some fresh blood behind the scenes.

Yes. I am so done with Che’s sexism. He needs to have his ass booted off.

I didn’t say that he doesn’t contribute, though. I’m just not a fan of his delivery.

Yeah, michael che seems annoyed being there. Like, why am I here?

I think Colin is alright on Weekend but nothing special. I think they tossed Cecily off because she’s better at characters than Jost and they can use her to come in and do them (because they lost a ton of their impressionists recently). They seem kind of low on impressionists (they lost Hader, Armisen, Pharoah and

Now playing

I think they kept Colin Jost because he is a better straight man to when they have side characters come up against him. Because of the way he looks and acts, you can mess with him more for a bigger laugh.

That’s so weird because I love Taran Killam and thought they were Kristen Wiig-ing him. I.E. he was in EVERY FUCKING SKETCH ALWAYS.

I’m not crying any tears over the loss of Jay Pharaoh, whom I considered to be very limited at best (Oh, and his Obama was terrible. Ugh.) But if he brought us Leslie Jones, then I have a reason to be grateful to him.

The supposed rationale for the outrage about no black women in the cast was that there was no one who could play Michelle Obama (as if she did a bunch of attention-grabbing things ripe for SNL parody). She’s done her a few times; completely bland.

Other than her impressions, Villaseñor doesn’t do anything. I can think of like two sketches where she was the main player, one of which was her just doing a series of impressions. When she’s not relying on her impressions, she comes off as so unnatural . Maybe it’s because I find her voice off-putting and

They have. And she hasn’t shined.

She gets very, very few (if any) sketches where she’s the main player, from what I’ve seen. They mainly have her on as supporting or background.

I haven’t watched regularly in a couple years but I thought Sasheer Zamata was getting good air time? Or is it just that she’s only in the good sketches that I wind up seeing? Anyway, she’s great, so I’m totally in favor of her getting more air time.

My understanding was that Taran Killam was commuting from LA (where his family with Cobie Smulders) to NY each week and he was done.

I liked Jay a lot, and I absolutely loved Taran, they were always great even if the writing was only mediocre. Taran is a treasure (his McConaughey kills me everytime). And you’re right about Melissa, she almost always falls flat.

Taran Killam’s now got a gig playing King George in Hamilton on Broadway, so at least he seems to have landed in a good spot!

This kind of thing is just unenforceable. So you see a tall woman with a strong jaw—you are supposed to ask for her birth certificate or ask her to show her genitals so she can use the bathroom? How about a small man with dainty hands? How about a butch lesbian with a bound chest? Who is supposed to be enforcing this
