Wolverine is almost never depicted as short as he is supposed to be whenever he shows up outside the comics, Huge Jackedman playing him seems to have affected his other depictions and how everyone who is not a comic nerd perceives him. Hell, plenty of artists IN the comics don’t get it right either.

That Marvin Gaye lawsuit is going to have a terrible impact on the music industry going forward.

The people who do this are also never in the market for a car themselves. Kinda similar to how people who bought their house 20 years ago will call people stupid for paying a much higher price for the same house today. They have some imaginary narrative in their head where they would successfully negotiate/intimidate

Outside of current markups - damn, $33k for an XLE hybrid sounds like a reasonable price for a LOT of car.

So why not take legal action if he suffered harm?

It’s definitely sexist. Producers are important but the albums are ultimately as good or bad as the songs and the artists. I really can’t recall male artists being portrayed as helpless pawns of the producer like this.

I also find it weirdly sexist, like- surely we wouldn’t give Antonoff all the credit for a successful Lorde or Lana album, so why should we assign him all the blame for a mediocre album? Call me crazy, but I think these women are artists with agency.

Alternative hypothesis: Maybe Lorde’s new album is boring because, with startlingly few exceptions, Lorde’s music is pretty boring.

Is it possible that Lorde just isn’t as great a young pop singer as everyone wanted her to be? When “Royals” came out there was certainly something in the cultural air. Maye kids had just never heard anyone harmonize before.

Come on, Antonoff produced all of the best songs on Reputation like Getaway Car or Call It What You Want (same with Lover, the bad songs were produced by Joel Little). All of folklore songs produced by him are great too. He’s a talented producer who does what the artists want him to do, that’s why they keep working

Exactly. It also buys into the regressive assumption that a female pop star’s male producer is responsible for the quality of her work. Usually it cuts the other way with the producer getting credit for successes, but “it’s Jack Antonoff’s fault these pop albums aren’t good” is just as crummy.

This article is forgetting that Antonoff also produced large parts of the wildly acclaimed predecessors to Solar Power and COTCC, Melodrama and Norman Fucking Rockwell. I’m not saying he’s perfect or that I’m a huge fan, but clearly there’s a reason why these artists want to work with him, and the idea that he’s some

Rocket science IS easier than self driving.

I’ve always been a 20% tipper for everything.  I have reevaluated that and save it for those I actually have to interract with.  Waitstaff, barber, etc... they get tipped.  Picking up food that I had to drive to get to?  Not anymore.  I also try to go places where I understand they are being paid a living wage, which

Tipping someone for grabbing a cup and filling it with some drip coffee is ridiculous. Maybe if I got some off menu item that took a lot of effort but how about just pay your staff appropriately? We don’t tip the cashier at McDonalds, why is coffee special?

Wow, OK. I understand why they waited so long to show the Deviants. They are ... yeah. Weightless CGI squiggle monsters from planet generica.

to you and Inspector hammer, this brief summary didn’t really get at a lot of the deeper issues. Basically, Dollar stores often push out grocery stores, frequently in areas where people are poor and don’t have a lot of options or transportation. Dollar stores have a smaller physical footprint, which means less rent,

Good for Sting and bad for the Duke.
