I grew up on a farm as well, and it was my job to tend to the chickens and gather eggs and whatnot. Roosters are some goddamned motherfucking assholes. I used to just go in wearing thick clothing, rubber work boots and gloves. Even in Summer.

We got baby chicks from a farm market that turned out to be roosters when I was little. I named mine Rufus and he attacked anyone who walked on our property- kids, neighbors, mailman, Charlie Chips man. We eventually gave him away to a farm. He was a bigtime asshole.
Geese are the worst! My aunt had geese and those fuckers would always come at me. Every. Single. Time. I’m still moderately scared of birds coming towards me thanks in part to those demons.

They are the worst. When I would spend the night on my aunt’s farm we would have to gather eggs from the chickens. To get to the chicken coop you had to cross the farm yard where the geese had free reign. So you had to avoid those feathered devils hissing and lowering their heads at you to get to your destination…
When I was a little kid we went to an animal exhibit (like a petting zoo) and we got to take a couple of chicks home. Most of them die but we treated them right and they grew into roosters. We tried to keep them in our yard but the fuckers would not shut up. At 2:30 am they’d be making all the noise in the world.
My cousins’ parents (my aunt and uncle) have a rooster and some chickens. Whenever people go over to their house, they send someone out with a broomstick to escort everyone to and from their cars.
My mom feels your pain- she had to feed the chickens when she was a kid and she said they were so mean! And don’t even get started on the geese. They would chase her away from her rural NJ bus stop when she was a girl.
That boyfriend is barely human. Human suit. I cannot even grasp this sort of cruelty and think of this person as made up of the same stuff as your average human.
