C’mon people. Clean up your freaking cars before you post photos on craigslist. I understand what buying a used vehicle entails, and I don’t need photographic evidence to remind me that I’m getting your sloppy-seconds. Gross.

When I started my first job out of college (insurance underwriter) in 2002, my company still had auto underwriting manuals from the mid-80's. The definition of a “High-performance vehicle” included “0-60MPH in under 8.0 seconds,” “Top Speed more than 125mph,” and “More than 200 horsepower.” I brought it to my…
Do you have an aftermarket controller? I’ve looked at the options on 500 Madness, but can’t figure out which is the best bang/buck...the last time I did any performance mods on a vehicle it involved re-jetting the carbs on my motorcycle. With my current vehicles, I’m out of my depth.
Next time you’re at the Fiat dealer, take a look at the exhaust under the back end of an Abarth or 500 Turbo. No mufflers! :)
The Cooper S feels like it handles better (not sure if it actually does), and I like the lower seating position. But the snappy throttle response and brutish exhaust note make me smile every time I fire up my Fiat.
It seems like plenty of power to me too. Admittedly, I’m uniquely unqualified to make any value judgments against those complaining. The quickest car I’ve owned is my Fiat 500 Abarth, and the most powerful is probably my wife’s Taurus (though its 288hp are hauling around 4200lbs). I’m honestly just impressed that the…
To be fair, the Mk IV Supra was pretty dang expensive without BMW’s help. $40k in 1994 would be almost $70k today...
Truly, we live in a golden age when we complain that sports cars “only have 335 HP.”
A cursory glance around the marketplace shows that frame off restored, Military 240GD’s go for $40k+, so this is a pretty good deal. That said, you can have a decent 300GE with a much more civilized interior, and a gasoline engine (easier for most of us non-wizards non-diesel-engine-mechanics to work on). Nice price,…
Great, now I’m imagining Land Rover are working to develop some sort of horrific, non-lethal process of “harvesting” cowhide.
As parents, we never hid the fact that the meat we eat comes from animals. In fact, I remember several conversations over dinner, discussing which animals various food items came from. When my son was about 5 years old, we were having such a discussion and he suddenly came to a realization, incredulously asking,…
I don’t think that this operates at “diesel-like compression.” Remember, gasoline requires significantly less compression to combust than diesel, hence the need for higher octane gasoline in high-compression/turbo engines.
First generation 4Runner. I have a strong hankering for a factory fresh 1986 4Runner SR5.
When I look at the badging, all I see is the Matchless Motorcycles logo...
Counterpoint...
I’m now shopping for stickers so that I can list my house as, 2 Story, open concept kitchen/family room, 4 bed, 3 ba. Rousch Stage III, 570HP.
This has been the law in Washington for decades, and it is enforced. You must be passing other cars if you are driving in the left lane. Indeed a friend of mine was on a desolate stretch of I-90 in Central WA, driving in the left lane with no other cars around. A state trooper pulled her over and issued a ticket for…
Doh!
Can I have mine without the PRNDS? Makes me sad to see that on the dash of a ‘Stang with “Track Mode” exhaust...
I know next to nothing about Internationals or Scouts or International Scouts, so your buddies may be right when they tell you that the liftgate is custom, but I did have a similarly vexing experience finding front brake calipers for my C107 Mercedes.
Unfortunately, going by Year, Make & Model wasn’t specific enough.…
